State Playoff Predictions

Post by catpound » Wed Oct 26, 2011 10:52 am

Okay- as the state playoffs begin this weekend, lets have some fun and make predictions for who wins Class A, B, C 8-man and 6-man and give some reasoning as to why on the classification you follow the most. Gotta love the playoff seasons!

Class A- really there are 3, maybe 4 good teams, Dillon, Laurel, Bill Central and throw in Polson just because. I think the state champ comes from the Laurel at Dillon winner. Dillon too much here and advances. The "chipper" will probably be Bill. Central at Dillon. Dillon is just too athletic this year. State Champ= Dillon.

Class B- Fairfield beats Huntley in one Semi; Malta beats Baker in other semi. Malta beats Fairfield in chipper as they ride the Scott King getting 200 wins wagon. Class B and A seem to have the same 3 or 4 teams vying for the title every year. State Champ= Malta

8 Man- Fairview beats Chinook in one semi; Wibaux beats Twin in other semi. Fairview wins the chipper in conference rematch. State Champ= Fairview

6 Man- I have no idea here so my guess is Big Sandy beats Denton for the title. State Champ= Big Sandy

Class A: Dillon
Class B: Malta
Class C: Superior (They were in the Class B playoffs last year - just a hunch they are carrying some players over from then)
6 Man: Denton

Baker didn't make the semi's! =D^ My nephew is a Sr in Ronan, so I hope they spoil your Malta prediction too!

I've watched Malta and Ronan play this year. Malta is GOOD. Much better than Bigfork or Fairfield last year. I'll be pulling for Ronan though.

Me too! Chris is a great kid having a good season. PLUS, he's been raised a Griz fan but wants to go into Engineering - you know what that means :D

Denton will win the 6-man title.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Yep--I think they beat the 2nd best team in the state pretty easily last weekend.

I just dropped into MaxPreps and was checking the Montana football.....Cannot ever remember the town of Savage.....They put a WHIPPING on somebody 92-8.....WOW. That was in the first playoff round.....If my memory is correct they won in the second round 75-30.....

How does 6-man work?
Actually, I am not even familiar with 8-man.....

Savage played Denton for the 6 man title last year. Denton won. Denton also beat Savage pretty handily earlier this year.

8 man is just like 11 man except players are eligible by position (players on end of line + players in backfield total possible of 5 eligible), you need 5 on the line and it is played on an 80 yard field.

6 man is played on an 80 yard field, everyone is eligible for a pass, the person who receives the snap can't run beyond the line of scrimmage with out first pitching or passing it, due to this you see a lot of a pistol looking formation where the person who receives the snap pitches it to the quarterback so he can run if he needs to. There are a bunch of other technical changes, but a PAT kick is worth 2, and a touchdown on a PAT or in 11 man a 2 pt conversion is only worth 1. A field goal with worth 4 as well. It is essentially an organized version of school yard football and a lot of fun to watch.

Thanks.....I knew about the 80 yard, but that was about it.....
They used to play some 8-man State Championships in the FieldHouse.....Correct. Or is it just because it would hold an 80 yard field and it would have been possible.....Maybe that is why I thought that...........................
