I was wondering if there was any way we could become a little more involved in the programs.
Perhaps we could take a vote on here for player of the year, and pool enough money together to make a small plaque or something along those lines. Just food for thought.

Player of the game award, voted on by the Nation. Provide the winner with a Nations T-Shirt to wear proudly (make it a fun design to make it desirable.
Have the rule that you can only win it once, Lulay only needs so many of them and it's best to spread it around.
If you want more, you have one for the lineman of the game and one for the skills player of the game.

No! You cannot even give them a pen. I had a close family friend on the team a few years ago and it took a lot of work and discussions with the BSC offcials to take him to dinner when I was in town. They finally concluded that he was a family friend and that he could go to dinner as a friend and not as an MSU athlete.rtb wrote:Just need to check on NCAA rules...can someone give a scholarship player a t-shirt for free or do they have to pay for it? It sounds like a cool idea, but will it be legal?

Well how about just plain ol good recognition? We could have a webpage dedicated to BN players of the week/game/season for all sports. Just like they do in the newspapers. Do a little write up about him or her, or something.
We could give some sort of award to a ineligible senior after his final season, couldn't we? Like a senior of the year or something.

I think you could make a donation to a scholarship fund in the players name. I'm not sure how small a donation MSU would be interested, but it seems like they wouldn't turn down any donation, even say $20 -$25 per game. It would be pretty cool for you guys to hear at the end of every Cat game "The Bobcat Nation player of the game is xxxx - a $25 donation to the Bobcat Nation scholarship fund will be made in his name.
