Arrowhead
How ridiculously loud is that place when the Chiefs are going well?!? There are a number of places (including right down the street at Qwest) that claim to be the loudest stadium in football, but there's no place that rocks like Arrowhead.

Re: Arrowhead
the place is amazing. i have been lucky enough to watch games in a handful of stadiums, arrowhead, quest, and the metrodome included. quest get's really loud don't get me wrong. but as far as outdoor stadiums go nothing comes close to arrowhead. their fans are an amzing bunch and they don't stop screaming from opening kickoff until the last second is off the clock. as a vikes fan i have gone to quite a few of their home games and i still don't think i've been in a louder place. my uncle works with the team and got to travel to the NFCC last year and he said the superdome was never as loud as the metrodome until last year! said it was the loudest building he's ever been to for a football game. but as a whole, in a big game where the place is rockin', i think you'd be hard pressed to find a building louder than the metrodome. it's crazy in that place. but i'm still more impressed with arrowhead and quest because it is outside and still nearly as loud. pretty cool.GrizinWashington wrote:How ridiculously loud is that place when the Chiefs are going well?!? Re: Arrowhead
Only problem with Chiefs fans they only show up when the team has a chance to win. Over the last 40years Arrowhead must be running about 80% capacity. Kansas city as a whole will not show unless they have a chance to win. Remember when the royals topped 2 million during the 70's and 80's. Chief/Royal/Kansas city fans remind me a lot of a seven year old girls.whitetrashgriz wrote:the place is amazing. i have been lucky enough to watch games in a handful of stadiums, arrowhead, quest, and the metrodome included. quest get's really loud don't get me wrong. but as far as outdoor stadiums go nothing comes close to arrowhead. their fans are an amzing bunch and they don't stop screaming from opening kickoff until the last second is off the clock. as a vikes fan i have gone to quite a few of their home games and i still don't think i've been in a louder place. my uncle works with the team and got to travel to the NFCC last year and he said the superdome was never as loud as the metrodome until last year! said it was the loudest building he's ever been to for a football game. but as a whole, in a big game where the place is rockin', i think you'd be hard pressed to find a building louder than the metrodome. it's crazy in that place. but i'm still more impressed with arrowhead and quest because it is outside and still nearly as loud. pretty cool.GrizinWashington wrote:How ridiculously loud is that place when the Chiefs are going well?!? Jag, that didn't sound right, so I looked it up. Last December was the first time the Chiefs played a home game which wasn't a sell-out in 19 years:

Re: Arrowhead
As a lifelong Bronco fan, I can attest to the energy of Arrowhead and no team feeds off stadium energy than the chiefs.
Original Mile High was close, but Arrowhead to me has always had the best fans and stadium energy.
And after seeing what a new stadium does to a team(Invesco and Broncos), word to the wise in KC. No matter how much money a new stadium will bring,
DO NOT ruin you team and fan identity and build a cushy expensive stadium whose clientele see games as a status symbol, while running off the
great fans who have enjoyed the games for years.
Not that I have heard a movement for KC to build a new stadium, but it is a shame to see the crowd the Broncos play in front of now compared
to 15 years ago.

Sell outs yes, Attendence no. See how far the numbers have droped from 627K 2000 to 540K in 2009. They sell out but people aren't going. Just like the 80's when the chiefs also blew. I'm not saying the atmosphere isn't great, i'm only saying the atmosphere is only great when the Chiefs are winning. For the first time the Chiefs are on the black out watch for the rest of the season according to the NFL so now the sell outs are in trouble. (doesnt help that it is a big stadium in a small market.)

100% agree the new Invesco blows compared to Mile High. KC fans the best? my ass.BroncoCat wrote:As a lifelong Bronco fan, I can attest to the energy of Arrowhead and no team feeds off stadium energy than the chiefs.

Re: Arrowhead
Also I hate Arrowhead. a big stadium in the middle of a HUGE parking lot in the middle of Freeways. Nothing to do. At least in Denver you can light rail to something fun. Places, like Pitt that have a stadium in the middle of town are the funnest places to go IMO. The Twin's Target field is also in an awesome location.

Re: Arrowhead
i didn't mind arrowheads location because i didn't need anything to do but pound some beers and eat the best bbq known to man. they have a great tailgate and you'd be hard pressed to find better food out there. but i agree that if you're wanting to shop or find some bars nearby before the game arrowhead is bad for that. but we got to the stadium about 4-5 hours early and we ate and drank VERY well!

As for attendance, c'mon! No one fully supports a team as bad as the Chiefs have been the past 3 years. Hell, even here in Seattle -- a few years removed from a super bowl appearance -- there were thousands of empty seats during late season games last year.

I have been in both stadiums and I can honestly say Qwest field takes loudness to a whole new level. It was designed that wayGrizinWashington wrote:How ridiculously loud is that place when the Chiefs are going well?!? Saw a Monday night game at Arrowhead a while back, Chiefs Raiders.
Wasnt impressed with the loudness in any way. Some of the reason listed above may have played into it but it was still underwhelming.

This is the only thread relative to the Kansas City Chiefs in 19 years.
