I was looking for some stats from Demetrius and found this
Gone are running backs Mike Davis and George Stripling, wide receiver Isaiah Smith and linebacker Cyrus Mulitalo. Running back Demetrius Crawford, who played in the Fever's first two games, left before the team's home opener March 28 when he signed with the Canadian Football League's B.C. Lions.

Hope he finishes his degree in the off-season.

He posted something about going to BC on Facebook the other day. I believe it said they wanted him to be ready on May 4.

Because we have APR issues, and nobody has brought up any other players who haven't graduated in conversation (except Jefferson ... and I make the same point about him every time).
Unless an MSU player graduates or plans to graduate from MSU, I will be disappointed (unless they actually are the one in a million person who can leave school early and get rich playing football).

Let me get this straight... because he's not "rich" yet, you're disappointed because his decision led to a lower APR. If he gets "rich", you won't be disappointed because his decision led to a lower APR? Not sure I get your logic. Why does his wealth have to do with your issue with the APR?
By the way... go get 'em Demetrius! I'll be following your progress, whether you become rich or not.
Retiring my moniker. It's time to ride off into the sunset. It's been a fun ride. Go Cats.

He didn't leave school as an underclassman to enter the NFL draft as a high draft choice (the rich part comes with that sort of rare talent and opportunity) ... didn't realize I needed to be that specific.
Why is wealth an issue? Because the entire point of going to college is to get a degree so one can make a good living (wealth). If one wastes that opportunity without already having a clear path to success (such as being a guaranteed high draft choice with guaranteed money), then it is a waste of resources for the boosters and for MSU. An exception can be carved out for those who have excellent alternatives ... but when one simply chooses not to put in the effort to graduate after being on scholarship, the harm to the team (and to ones own opportunities) is something I just can't get too excited about.
I also am just a wee bit worried that cheering on guys that choose not to graduate might not send the best signal/lesson to the players currently on the team (and to be on the team in the future).
I will be disappointed with the impact on the APR regardless of whether he's rich or not. But if he was an underclassman who didn't get his degree because he was a first round draft choice and was set for life, I could easily understand his throught process and appreciate the financial sense of his decision.
I hope he does well in whatever he chooses to do. I also hope no other players follow his same path without first commiting to finishing their degrees, because it's a bad decision for themselves and harms MSU's football program.

Not every "wealthy" and successful pro athlete was a high draft choice. His level of wealth still does nothing to change the APR. Either you approve of his decision or you don't. You can't ride the fence based on his level of success and wealth.
EDIT: It looks like you added a paragraph after I responded.... so, never mind.

I thought it was pretty obvious from the start that I was pretty much against his decision to not graduate. Apologies if I was too vague about my positions.

I hope he's happy. It made me happy watching him run the football in a MSU uniform. I hope he gets a degree if that makes him happy. I hope he realizes that wealth by any measure is no guarantee to happiness, but properly managing what money he does have will make him feel financially secure, which is something that will make him happy. I hope he learns how to not write run-on sentences.

He needs 15 credits to graduate. Can't really fault him for following his dreams. Hopefully things work out and he makes it big but if that doesn't happen than hopefully he gets that degree and makes it big.
GO GRIZ!
