Eastern Washington at BYU

Post by JDoub » Tue Oct 16, 2007 3:04 pm

If ever there were a FBS team ready to overlook a FCS team, this could be the match-up.

It seems Eastern is much better than BYU thinks, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if they pull the upset, if not scare the hell outa them. Maybe Eastern thinks if they win out and have a W over FBS, they could get an at-large playoff bid (a la MSU vs. Colorado)

Gawd I'd love to see BYU lose -- local (Utah) tv and radio coverage is talking only about how many Couger fans there were in Las Vegas, and then right to San Diego State -- gloss right over EWU. Could be interesting.

I think if they play well in this game, win the rest of their conference schedule and close out with a HUGE win over Northern Iowa, they would make it in at 8-3 (especially that win over UNI).

God, I would love to see it. I can't stand BYU but this year they do have a good team. I watched the Arizona game.

On the other hand I think Eastern is clicking pretty well at the moment and I think they will score points in this game.

I watched the UNM - BYU game a few weeks ago and I have to say those guys aren't even close to last year (11-2 R15). They are currently the top Mountain West team, though. A fairly weak UNM (lost to PSU last year) almost knocked them off.

That Tongan RB that BYU had was just too much for the eagles. The guy is a horse.

Boy was I WRONG

What is the thing with Eastern??? I really don't get it.

I fully expected NDSU to beat Minnesota, and Eastern to geve em hell in Provo and maybe pull the upset. The Eagles have disappointed me two weeks in a row! They seem to choke with bigger games (remember Southern Illinois in the playoffs a few years back?)

such is life I guess

BYU 42 EWU 7 was the final score.
Somehow Eastern really has our number. They have a history of being blown out by the Bowl Level teams. Years ago they went down to Houston, and if Houston hadn't let up early would have scored a hundred. Last year they played a tough West Virginia team. WV was beating them up so badly their coach was quoted as saying he looked up in the stands at half-time to see if there were any old alumns who wanted to suit up. Two weeks later Eastern came to Bozeman and beat us. It's why I don't get down when they beat us.
This issue, like the long since broken griz streak, needs to be addressed. :?

Everybody has a bitch and MSU just happens to be EWUs.
