How do we practice in this?

I lifted this photo from the AGS board showing the fresh snow at the stadium today. Kramer said they had a practice scheduled today. Anybody know if they were in the Fieldhouse or outside? They should be outside-in shorts.

If a Southern team beats us in this type of weather...well then we truely didn't belong.

The team was outside practicing when my brother-in-law came over for Thanksgiving today; no pads.

This is beutiful!

I loved snows in Bozeman....and at Bridger Bowl. My favorite thing was to ride the ski lift when it was snowing those big flakes that were coming straight down, the quiet, the solitude,......the powder.

It's snowing pretty hard in Missoula right now too. It looks like we got our snow just a day later than Bozeman.

It's looking like playoffs in Montana weather! I just hope it doesn't muck up the roads too much on Saturday morning.

Right now, it's pretty nice in bozeman; sunny skies, winds approx. 10-15 mph (which is not so nice). The roads earlier this morning were a mix of clear and ice packed. Sounds like lots of cars skidding off the roads yesterday morning during the storm.

At my house, I would say there's around 3 inches of snow on the ground and I live about a mile from the stadium. I just looked at the forecast. Today should be decent. Tonight and through tomorrow is showing snow shower possibilities in the 40% range with minor winds.

Should be awesome baby!!!!!

Missoula has about 1 inch of heavy, wet snow. It is definitely sticking to the ground and with the temperatures in Missoula expected to be in the low 30's, I don't see any chance that the snow will melt before tomorrow.

As for roads . . . fans need to be careful. The freezing temperatures could create some pretty slick roads.

Right now in missoula its still snowing and about 2-3 inches of snow on the ground... My parents house is in the South Hills of Missoula which is a little higher then the stadium.. Normally we get about an inch more then the valley.

I am not all that sure how this weather helps us that much. We are not the team with the good ground game, but rather like to toss it around and from what is going on outside today here in Bozeman it would seem we will have a tough time. Advantage Furman?

While the field won't be like it was for Cat/Griz last year. I do see it being like it was for the PSU game.

In that game, their offensive line had troubles getting a forward push due to a lack of footing. It really allowed our linebacks to run and make the plays. Also it will limit their tailback from cutting up when he tries to make the corner. The linebackers will have an advantage here if they keep inside out contain.
Conversely, our passing attack will do ok because the receivers know where they need to get and the defenders need to respond (i.e. slipping at times when they try to break with the receiver). I do think if the wind is significant tomorrow, it will limit our long throws. But, the passing game should do well.

So, looks like we are looking for a muddy field tomorrow? Do they blow the snow off, leave it on? Try to dry it? Do nothing?

The snow was off the field when I took a walk past the stadium earlier...I assume both teams will be having/have had walkthroughs this afternoon at the stadium. The grass definitely isn't very green anymore, but it was tough to see exactly what the field conditions were like from outside the fence.

With the privilege of hosting comes the responsibility of trying to make the playing surface as normal and safe as possible for the players. I hope that the facilities personnel are doing everything they can to ensure that the field remains as dry and playable as possible.

I don't think it will be muddy. The wind is freeze drying the field as we speak and it won't get above 32 degrees tomorrow. I think the field will be more like the Cat-griz game of 2004 (the year Corey Smith ran the opening kickoff back). There might be some traction issues now and then, but it won't be too bad.

I drove by the stadium and saw the Bobcats practicing in there this afternoon. I didn't notice the field conditions (I was on Kagy) but I don't think it'll be a situation like the Cat-Griz game last year. The field will probably be frozen, and maybe still have a little green left. Field conditions should be decent for tomorrow's game.

I drove in and looked at the field while Furman was doing their walk through.

The field actually looks in great shape. It's not the middle of summer green, but it's still somewhat green. And, I agree with earlier analysis that it won't be a slop house.

Boy were those Furman boys huddling around to try and stay warm. And, it was a full 40 degrees at the time....had to giggle to myself a little bit.

That was actually 2003, but we've beat them so many times the past five years it's hard to keep track. It'd be nice to get off to a start like we did in that game. Get a lead, then stuff it down their throats with two 11 play, 80 yard drives to take a 27-10 lead to start the fourth quarter. Gave over.

I don't know if I prefer wet, sloppy track or a frozen, concrete surface. Anything they aren't used to, but their coach has already said that they've seen just about everything, so, unlike some teams, I don't expect they'll be making excuses IF we beat them.
