So obviously Fullerton has no confidence to rule this play. Lame!! This is college football not the NFL. I dont understand. Isnt it his job to make a ruling on this?Fields said the league reviewed video of the play, and the call "depends on which way you look at the film."
He said the supervisor of league officials sent it to NFL officials for them to review.

Re: MORE FULLERTON
I'll put MONEY on that the NFL refs say it was a catch. All they have to do is look at Antonio Gates catch (suppossed fumble) in the end zone last year in K.C and it is the same type of play. Once you have broken the plain of the goal line and have 2 hands control and 1-2 feet down it is INSTANT TD ... makes no difference what happens after that. Same goes for a RB or QB reaching over the goal line and cross it and then get the ball knocked out and recovered for a fumble etc. The play has ended by that time.STREETCAT wrote:From todays Chronicle

Re: MORE FULLERTON
Was there any mention of the 4th down call that gave the Griz forward progress after the receiver ran backwards trying to gain more yards... that basically screwed Cal Poly out of the game?STREETCAT wrote:From todays Chronicle

Nice work street, that is some funny, as in amusing/interesting, isht. I love the quote "depends on which way you look at the film". Give me a break, if they can't tell from the tape, and have to send it to NFL officials, they must have sight problems, just as we BSC fans have suspected all along.STREETCAT wrote:From todays Chronicle

It is fitting though, I recall some games in Wash-Griz where the officials had to huddle up about 5 - 10 times, stopping the momentum of play time after time, to get calls right. And they still got them wrong, as proof was right up on the jumbotron. Yet they can't base decisions on the the jumbotron and refused to look at it. If I were an official, I'd rather get the call right, and sneek a peek at the video screen, and if the angle was good, with good evidence shown, MAKE THE RIGHT CALL, and just pretend it wasn't the video screen that helped.

The call in Missoula had a much more profound affect on the game. Had the ball been properly marked the Grizzlies would have lost the game. This is coming from Griz fans at the game who had a great view of the play.
If Cal Poly loses at North Dakota State this weekend then Cal Poly is most likely out of the playoffs and can look back at that mark as being very significant in ending their season.
We are fortunate that the call did not end our season.
Final thought
While I don't condone post game harrassment of the officials in the manner that happened I would imagine there would be fewer issues regarding fans like this if the BSC would comment publicly on the officiating when errors like these occur.
