Interesting how people see different things. What I saw was Rolo looked at the primary receiver, then starting moving out of the pocket before he was pressed. He didn't just step up and look at the 2nd and 3rd. Jefferson was wide open on two or three plays (regardless of what WSU coach thrashed Jefferson in the paper on). Then Rolo looked at the TEs almost all the time as he moved away from the pocket. He was only sacked once in the pocket and wasn't pressured there otherwise, it was all on the outside. Being in the pocket with people all around and not being touched is not being pressured. The OL can't do much if he moves out of the pocket. Watch the game again if you have it on tape.
The D played a great game. The 5 or 6 sacks is a really high number. Actually the QB scrambled several times because of presure and got back to the Line of Scrimage (thus no sack) on those couple, but it was as good as a sack..
On Beach's interception, someone has said it was a mistake by their QB. However, you need to realize that was a pass they had been making all first half and 3rd Quarter. They lived on the out passes. So it wasn't a poor pass, the reciever was there. They were just making the pass to often. The D just played tighter in the 2nd half and moved in on that play. So does WSU not throw that pass all game, or just have one picked (which happens on outs if you never go down field, which WSU didn't).
The Cats were taking away the run and anything deep or across the middle. Thus the out was open and they got a large number of yards going there. However, it does get burned when that is the only play being made over and over.
The one they did go down field on in the 4th Q, that was pure wind. I was watching from behind the play and it was on-line, then once the ball passed the end of the Grandstands (where the wind then affected the ball) it moved 5 yards to the right towards the sideline. Was a great pass until the wind took it. Then there was no way for the receiver to get to it.
I was really disappointed with The WSU coach in the paper. Very few coaches cross the line and dish on the other team's players. They typically just buildup their own. When he said his Kentucky transfer played well, that was fine, but then going on and saying Jefferson was average or below average, that was NO Class. His team has all the best players, yet they are 2 and 6. Seems if they have the best players, something else must be holding them back (maybe their coaches?)
Just really disappointed by the lack of class on that statement.
