Can anyone put my mind at ease

Don't want to start any rumors, but read today about the assault in Bozo Sunday night. I am praying it did not involve any FB players, but given the facts that is probably the first place the Cops will look. Can anyone confirm that no FB players involved.
The Cats do not need anymore distractions. Take care of the next two home games and they will be playing for the Championship.

Well it took place late Saturday/early Sunday so I would say the team was probably traveling back from Idaho still. Also they showed video of the suspects on the news last night and a few of the guys were in what looked like tuxes so they were probably part of a wedding. Those two things make me comfortable that no football players were involved.

Rumor on the streets is that they were from out of town here for the weekend

If you don't mind, I am moving this thread to the Bobcat Hangout section since this is something we may want to talk about effecting Bozeman, but it has nothing to do with Bobcat Athletics.

So what is the story with the tuxedo-clad assaulters? Anybody seriously hurt? Where did this happen?

The person that was beat is in critical condition in Billings. The fight happened outside of the Pita Pit/Eagles area. There was a big article in yesterday's Chronicle.

In front of Pita Pit. Sounds like the guy isn't doing too well.

And they haven't figured out who did this yet? It just seems like Bozeman is the kind of town that something like this wouldn't be much of a secret?
Thanks for the link, by the way.

I think you might be able to see the suspects on the video at Montana's News Station. I can't get it to load here at work, but that is where the tuxedo thing came from. The footage looked like that to me, did anyone else see that?
I am also surprised that the suspects haven't been caught.

I was wondering the same thing. With Bozeman’s particular demographics I was worried that they might have a connection to Bobcat Athletics.
Oh, and Steetcat your post is ridicules.

I think it's interesting the only thing people want to know is whether there were football players involved.
Nevermind the victim is within an inch of his life.

Can't it be assumed that everyone is against senseless violence? The event itself is disgusting, and I just assume that everyone else feels the same way. But the way the media reports have presented the details, it does seem like it begs obvious questions as to who may or may not be involved.
That being said ... there appears to be a chance that the reports aren't very accurate in terms of the ethnic descriptions of the assailants, so this speculation may well be a moot point.

I'm just speculating here, but if we come to find that the guys who did this were brought into town by bobcat recruiters, then that might be the end of my support for bobcat athletics. I like to watch the games, but I don't like being beaten and mugged downtown. If they are not associated with the university athletics program, then I'm out of line, and murder earlier this year was more of an isolated incidence.

The video linked above shows the guys in question ... they weren't athletes on a recruiting trip (and nobody has identified them as current or former MSU athletes). And for that matter, there were not three black men among them (only appears to be one), contrary to the articles. A couple of the guys were wearing tuxedo vests, so they were probably in town for a wedding, as rtb mentioned earlier.
This is the danger of the media throwing out ethnic descriptions of people in a town that isn't very diverse ... we all do assume that anyone who is black is also affiliated with MSU athletics. Sad, but true.

It should be pretty easy to find them. There aren't a lot of wedding photographers in the Gallatin Valley. Ask around, see who did weddings last Saturday, then ask questions about those who were dressed in tuxes, what type of tux, racial composition of the wedding party, etc. Narrow down from there. Or simply check the public marriage records and see who actually signed their forms on that day.

Has anyone heard anything on the condition of the guy that was attacked? I haven't seen anything in the Chronicle or Gazette about it.

Article in the Chronicle today said he is still in intensive care. It doesn't sound like any good news for now. VERY SAD. Why are people so evil?
In terms of the investigation all they said was they have interviewed several people in the case, but no arrests.
