A Different View

I recently attended a large commumity parade on a bright, sunny, blue sky afternoon. First off, down the street came the color guard, Three abreast. In the middle, holding the American flag was a proud older gentleman dressed in an army green "Ike" jacket and wearing a full American Indian head dress. You know...like Sitting Bull; long eagle feathers draped down his back. On either side of him were two elderly flag bearers in the identical dress of the leader, shoulders back, eyes straight ahead. One was holding the State flag and the other what I took to be the flag of the nearby Indian reservation. Behind them was a line of snare drummers tapping out a military style rythm. Behind the drummers was a sole flag bearer with the black POW flag affixed. All were in the same atire as the leaders. It was incredibly moving and the crowed cheered and appaluded loudly. Turns out all were US military veterans, all Native Americans and all members of the reservation. If North Dakota had viewed their "fighting Souix" from this paradigm there would have been no argument.
