Anyone had hip bursitis?? I was hospitalized all week with a sudden and severe case. Back home but in a great deal of pain. Anyone have any advice on how to overcome and how to prevent a recurrence?

It's an overuse injury isn't it?

I think it comes from getting old. I got the Shingles, I don't recommend either. There is also some memory thing that affects us but I can't remember what it is called.

Gary, I know as a big weight lifter, body guy you probably shun Pilates. It does the reverse of what you're trying to do. Rather than build up big, bulky muscles it will lengthen them which reduced the bulk. BUT - the focus is on balancing the cooridiating muscles and realigning your posture. By better posture you will reduce the stress on your joints and help alleviate, or prevent, a recurrance of your brusitis.
I recommend Stott Pilates, as it's a modern format that has modifications for posture or injury issues. Especially if you can find an instructor trained in Injury/Special Populations.
Good luck!
