BBQ ?

Post by Hawks86 » Mon Jul 02, 2012 7:49 pm

over on cs.com there is a thread on someone visiting Boz. and what to do and places to eat. Anyway it got into there not being any good BBQ joints. Does anyone remember a guy that had a BBQ restaurant that was out of his house(he actually moved quite a few times). This would have been in the mid 90's. What was the name of that place and is it still open ?

Monkey Dons Rib Joint. Started in Manhattan. Guy was from Florida I believe. Unbelievably good!

Is that the same Don that owned Fat Boys BBQ? He was from Florida too.

Could very well be. It was in Manhattan roughly 95-96 then moved into Boz when the new exit at 19th was built. He called it something different but I dont remember what.

I doubt it then, because Fats was open most of my college days 93-98.

Yep, that's the one, Ltown. Great BBQ and you could bring your own beer in.

It wasn't actually the guys house. He didn't live there, just rented it and set it up to serve food. It was pretty good, but it was open when I was cooking at the Oasis, and I got a free steak dinner everytime I worked, so I enjoyed my steak dinner. We used to call it Donkey Dicks. Not sure why. I called it that once, and it just kind if stuck.
