And it's been bothering me all day!

Anyone a Rugby fan? We moved to Queensland, Australia last week just in time for the annual big games!! All the National Rugby League players originally from New South Wales play all those originally from Queensland. My husband was here for the first game, it's a series of 3, and Queensland won - as expected. Tonight is the 2nd game. Queensland has won the series for the last several years. We've been excited about the game since we arrived and have seen all the hype on TV. I would venture to say it's as big as Cat/Griz here!
I didn't even realize my dilema until yesterday, I was talking to someone from NSW and he said "you only support the Maroons if you want someone who just wins and there's no challenge. If you want to really work for your victories and cherish them, you go for the Blues!"
That pretty much sums up the last few decades as a Cat fan eh? I know I need to root for the Maroons, it's our new home state.....but, but, but....it doesn't feel good!

Things I learned living in Australia.
1. The country shuts down to watch a horse race, run during the week.
2. Aussie rules football, Rugby and Rugby Union are the games they play. They refer to our football as gridiron.
3. Don't ask a girl which team she roots for. Rooting is something not done by good girls.
4. If the local constable pulls you over late a night for driving on the wrong side of the road, They let you go because you are " just a bloody yank"
Geezer. Part Bionic,. Part Iconic

Will have to take note, I want to be a good girl

I learned last night that Queensland is the most into rugby, the other state play more AFL and soccer. I'm not yet sure if they're all called footie or if it just seems like it!
BTW, the Bobcats....I mean NSW won last night. Should be a great 3rd game on 4 July!! At least we'll have something to look forward to!

Rugby Union?...is that different from "regular" Rugby?

Yes, Rubgy Union is what's played internationally. The Aussie team is the Wallaby's. It is a different game than what's played in the Nat'l Rugby League which is more like the NFL. Rugby Union is more intense contact, they lift people up to get the ball, they actually scrum. That's the diff I've seen so far.
But they're all Footie
