Go to User Control Panel (below Board Index). Click Profile, edit Avatar. Paste the url in the indicated spot. Assuming the file's not to large, that should do it.

How do you get a picture to reduce in size to fit for an avatar?

Now see, that's where they getcha. 8)

You can try saving it, and then reducing the size of the pixels, but I've found varying degrees of success with that and usually end up using a different photo.

Thanks GinW and 2506. I'llprobably still have to ask the same question next time I change my avatar. due to the fact that I don't know how to change the size of the pic.

I could esplain it, but then I would have to kill you :wink:

I used photoshop, but any image editing program would work including paint.

the key is to resize the image to a small pixel dimension, int this case 80X80 is the size that BN prefers. It isn't that hard but takes some basic understanding of digital graphics, and if you don't do it very often you will probably have problems.

If you decide to change your avatar again and need to resize an image just PM me and I can do it for you.

Google Mihov Image Resizer. It takes some getting used to, but it works great. It's how I resized my avatar.

I didn't download it but hopefully it is fairly easy to use for the novice. http://www.mihov.com/eng/ir.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Some where I found a website once that resized images, you browsed your computer for the image, set a crop line and pixle height and width and it did it and displayed on a page. But I cant find it now.

Gimp is an open source app that can do a lot of photoshop type stuff if somebody really wants to get into it. http://www.gimp.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
