 It is true that you get to spend $100 or more per year for virus protection re: windows. But, why would a hacker want to spend any time building a virus, worm, or t.h. for 20% of computers? :D

I'm talking about modeling programs. Those only run reliably on one OS or another, and 99% of them are written for a Windows based OS.

If you're work computer crashes and takes 90 minutes to boot up Outlook, then you have a lemon, or your system wasn't set up correctly to begin with. I'd be bitchin' to my IT person or whoever bought it in the first place. The Outlook issue might be related to RAM. You should have at least 1GB for XP, imho. Even though most new systems only come with 256MB.
ever heard of a "kickroot"

people who work on linux and *by defult* mac os's fear them

Only insofar as it relates to hacking. I don't have a clue beyond that.

I knew you know more about computers than you let on at first, HB. But now I'm on to you!

Yes, there are hacking tools for UNIX, Linux, BSD, ad nauseum. However, there's absolutely NO chance for them to install on any competent user's machine.

With OS X for instance, any program asks the administrator of the machine permission to install, so I know exactly what is installing. If it's not something I initiated willingly, I don't allow it to install. Compare this with programs installing sureptitiously on Windows boxes, and one quickly comes to understand the inherent secure nature of OS X. \:D/
