Re: Montana Restaurant
The pizzas I liked they took off the menu. I tried others and did not care for them. This kind of started when they sold out.TIrwin24 wrote:How so?allcat wrote:I think macKenzie has changed, I don't care for it anymore.TIrwin24 wrote:For me it would be:

Re: Montana Restaurant
They are part of Glacier Restaurant Group owned out of Whitefish. They own several restaurants around the Flathead and beyond. All of them good. Ciao Mambo's, Craggy Range, Latitude 48, MacKenzie Rivers. They run a good business. They just opened up a MacKenzie River Pizza Pub & Grill in Kalispell and it is really good with a much expanded menu (burgers, sandwiches, pasta, etc.). I've been there a few times already. Plus they made a very nice donation to Kalispell Peewee Baseball for the building of their new batting cages. (over $6,000). I like the new owners (not that I disliked the old ones).TIrwin24 wrote:Bummer. Didn't realize that they sold
I will agree that the pizza isn't the same as eating in downtown Bozeman when the pizza was still wood-fired back when they opened in the early '90's. But it is still good.

Wild "Missouri River" Rainbow Trout
18 oz. Porterhouse Steak from grass fed Montana Beef
Copper Mountain Cornish Beef Pasties
Montana "Big Sky" Bison Steak
Muzzies Thick Cut, Deluxe Pork Chop Sandwich (Muzzie is the co-owner of the Speedway Tavern in Butte, home of the worlds finest pork chop sandwich).
Seems like half the tourist in Butte are Montana ex-pats returning for pork and pasties.
Superior Rocky Mountain Oysters
Fergus County Chinese Pheasant
Lewis and Clark Beef and Bean Stew
Bobcat Special (Roasted Grizzly Nuts mixed with chicken and boiled in VIM)

Re: Montana Restaurant
Things I had while in Montana over the last month.
Elk tenderloin, harvested off of my friend's ranch last fall outside of Roscoe. Frankly, the best cut of meat I've ever had in my life.
Pan-seared river trout with homestyle potatoes. Rock Creek, MT.
Sliced sirloin with a mustard sauce at Montana Jacks in the Middle of Nowhere, MT (near Roscoe). The beef is literally grown next to the restaurant.
Buffalo burger at the Grizzly Bar in Roscoe.
IPAs in a can. It seems to be a Montana thing, since nobody here in the NW does it, and it tastes delicious.

Re: Montana Restaurant
Canned craft beers have been a growing trend in CA for a few years (and I think it's going to grow over time as the illusions about bottles tasting better start to become debunked in the minds of beer drinkers), so it's not all that unique to Montana, but along with all of the rest of these items I see no reason not to claim it and brand it as a Montana thing.
