Help us figure out what to do when we grow up!

Post by SonomaCat » Fri Feb 28, 2014 12:28 pm

This happens every few years or so, but my wife and I are in the process of trying to figure out what we want to do with our careers/lives, and where we want our kids to grow up. Bozeman comes up a lot, for reasons I'm sure I don't need to explain to any of you.

I've been doing corporate tax/treasury/accounting work for public companies and CPA firms for about 20 years now. My wife has been in healthcare administration for about the same length of time. I think both of us are open to the idea of working within our current career paths if we found interesting opportunities (ideally in smaller companies where one's responsiblities are broader and more diverse), but we are also strongly considering the idea of buying or starting our own business.

So here is my question to the group - based on what you know about Bozeman (it's economy and what it has and what it doesn't have), and if you were in our position, what sorts of things would you consider doing? Is there an underserved market in Bozeman where a new business could succeed? Is there an up and coming industry that we should be looking at to try to become a part of?

I promise large quantities of beer to anyone who can come up with an idea that leads to our personal and professional Bozeman bliss.

I have a couple ideas I will e-mail to you. Don't want to bring them up on a public forum.

I don't know on the business side in terms of what Bozeman needs but I have a couple companies that might need a great accountant and Bozeman Deaconess is/has been expanding quite a bit.

I love the Bobcats and the Miami Hurricanes an unhealthy level
