Border Patrol Bust

Post by CapitalCityCat » Wed Jul 18, 2012 8:27 am

All I can say is "wow". I'm glad we're protecting our citizens from these potentially lethal candy eggs.
"He said, 'Are you aware kinder eggs are illegal in the United States and carry a $2,500 fine per egg?' And I actually laughed," Sweeney said.

As it turns out, Kinder Eggs are banned from the United States because they contain a "non-nutritive object embedded" inside them.
I wonder if Clark Griswold ever tried smuggling any of his "non-nutritive" cereal varnish across the border?

I used to get these from my friend back before they were banned. His dad was from Germany so they would always come home from vacations there with these and other candy. Then America ruined a beautiful part of my childhood...

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

I unknowingly smuggled a couple of these eggs into the country back in the mid 90's after a trip to Ontario. Also brought back bags of Ketchup and Dill Pickle flavored chips :-$

Were they Old Dutch chips by any chance? I grew up on a farm that was just 2 miles from the border, and spent a lot of time in Canada when I was a kid. I loved Old Dutch potato chips!!

No, they were actually Lays. First time I'd ever seen those flavors. I noticed that Lays had dill pickle chips in the local stores about 2-3 years back but they didn't last long. On a side note, if anyone beer lovers get to Ontario soon, be sure to try Muskoka Cream Ale. Delicious, amber English pub-style ale.

Well I'll be damned! Those Canadians are on to something good there. We've got leprechauns and pots o' gold at the end of our rainbows, they have Beer Stores! :suds:

for a minute there I forgot we were talking about Kinder Eggs. I was trying to make the connection between the Beer Store and kids on the playground.

Old Dutch Ketchup chips, Mackintosh Toffee, and Poutine. Best things to come out of Canada that isn't beer, eh.

You might want to add Pamela Anderson to that list.

I LOVE Mackintosh's Toffee! Only problem I've had is the last few times I've been up there I couldn't find the real bar (you know, in the big package like this):

I could only find the little wrapped minis, which DO NOT taste as good, in my opinion. I was so disappointed.
