As it turns out, Kinder Eggs are banned from the United States because they contain a "non-nutritive object embedded" inside them.
I unknowingly smuggled a couple of these eggs into the country back in the mid 90's after a trip to Ontario. Were they Old Dutch chips by any chance? I grew up on a farm that was just 2 miles from the border, and spent a lot of time in Canada when I was a kid.
