Bozeman Parking Ticket Rant
OK-I need to vent. On Wednesday I brought my freshman twins over to the dorms at MSU. With twins we had to rent a U-Haul trailer. So we were able to unload my sons gear at South and then head to Hapner to unload my daughters gear. After unloading, I had asked where I could park my vehicle and trailer and one of the RA's said just park in the parking lot. Well the parking lots were full so I parked in an area on 6th, about a block and a half from Hapner. I still had stuff/tools in the car to shuttle back and forth to the dorm. The street was marked as no parking between 8 and 5. I knew this going in. Well low and behold the City of Bozeman nailed every one (several cars) with a $20.00 parking ticket. I will pay the fine but really ticks me off is that the City of Bozeman should consider a grace period or work with MSU when folks are trying to get into the dorms to get their kids moved in. I think SUV + U-Haul trailer + out of town plates would be a good indicator that some one is moving their kids in. This kind of revenue generating for the City of Bozeman leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Rant over....

Yep...that sucks. Probably some old curmudgeon living near there called the cops to complain about all the vehicles obstructing their viewshed, roadshed, and curbshed.
This reminds me...I can't wait to read all of the letters to the editor in the chronicle after the first night game.

Re: Bozeman Parking Ticket Rant
If it makes you feel any better, I probably spent $500 or so on parking tickets here in SF a couple years ago, including one for $100 for parking in my driveway as I parked there for 5 minutes to run upstairs to retrieve our infant son. I got another one for $75 for not curbing my wheel in front of our house (even though it's flat, but apparently they average the slope of the entire block and deem that to apply to every inch of that block). So the silver lining is, at least Bozeman has relatively cheap parking tickets!

Maybe it would help to go talk to the city attorney. I've done that before and had my bond reduced on speeding fines. Politeness and humility goes a long ways. As long as he or she isn't a huge doucher I would think they would understand the practicality of what you did and why you did it.

Tourists should be penalized to the fullest extent of the law.

How else can we get our trail system to be the best in Gallatin County!WeedKillinCat wrote:OK-I need to vent. On Wednesday I brought my freshman twins over to the dorms at MSU. I'm sorry did the sign say "no parking from 8-5 unless you're moving a kid into MSU or have a moving trailer with out of state plates" It said no parking so be prepared to pay what ever the fine is.
Are you mad because of the rule, amount of the fine, that the rule applies to you, or that you got cought?

Re: Bozeman Parking Ticket Rant
I knew what I was doing and would probably get caught. But in cases of move in days and having a trailer to pull I would think that the City of Bozeman should work with MSU to offer a grace period. All the parking lots near Hapner were full and I wasn't going to park a half mile away when I still had to run stuff back and forth. Hapner was only allowing about 10 minutes to unload in front.jagur1 wrote:I'm sorry did the sign say "no parking from 8-5 unless you're moving a kid into MSU or have a moving trailer with out of state plates" It said no parking so be prepared to pay what ever the fine is.

Welcome to the joys of student parking at MSU. It's a really fun time, especially if you don't have a class at 8 am and don't want to show up 3 hours before your first class just to get a spot.

And those home owners bitch about a parking garage. Pick a side jackasses.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

It's pretty dang full by 9 AM. I mean, it's possible to get a spot, but not exactly easy.Bay Area Cat wrote:Does that big lot between the fieldhouse and Kagy fill up that early each day?bobcat99 wrote:Welcome to the joys of student parking at MSU.
