Bozeman Among Drunkest in US

Post by Air Force Cat » Sat Mar 19, 2011 2:41 pm

Bozeman was ranked the 5th drunkest town in the US, closely behind Butte at #4

It's only because North Dakota State came to town (Fargo is No. 3 on the list).

I'm starting to think that montana is the only one that participates in these surveys. Last year billings was the third drunkest city in the US behind Reno and Fresno. I have contributed to Billings drunkness a few times but i'm not buying billings, bozeman, and butte being in the top five for the last two years.

Montanans drink. A lot.

Frankly after being away, I see some things about the culture of drinking in Montana that is probably unhealthy. And this is coming from a guy who is anything but a teetotaler.

Yeah, we drink. But we also run/ ski/ hike/ kayack/ mountain bike/ road bike/ play hockey to offset it. I'm always struck by how athletic and fit Bozemanites are when I travel somewhere else and see so many overweight Americans.

I'll agree with GiW though, drinking in Montana is unlike anywhere else, mostly the nonchalance about grabbing a beer for the road.

It's true. The average Montanan drinks more than most people, but we can also handle it better. Most of us don't think of 4-5 drinks as that many, but apparently it is. Oh well.

Maybe if we get 3 home playoff games we can get to number ONE!

Obviously, people in other towns basically either lie, or were never asked. Gotta admire the honesty of Bozeman and Butte residents.

Montana State IS what "they" think Montana is.
