Pearl Harbor Day
It's amazing to me how the passage of time has seemed to make this event less and less significant to our citizens. Please take time today to remember Pearl Harbor on the 70th anniversary of that attack. My grandfather's ship, the U.S.S. West Virginia, took six torpedo hits and was sunk that fateful day. The "WeeVee" was brought back to the surface and rebuilt. She eventually became an instrumental warship in the defeat of the Japanese naval empire. My grandfather was not stationed in Pearl Harbor at the time, but was reassigned to the WeeVee after she was resurrected. Thank you Greatest Generation for my freedoms today!
