We go through there now about twice a year going to/from Coeur d'Alene. Could probably live in Madras if I had to. Seems like a real nice town. LaPine looks nice as well. My problem with Bend is that is seems way to big/busy. But you are lucky to be there. I remember Bend in the
old days of the late 50's when it seemed small, a few thousand.....
Love to eat at Deschutes Brewery and Bend Brewery. Deschutes is definitely a quieter place to dine. The last trip through last week we wanted to hit 10 Barrels but were too tired. We stay at LaQuinta and, to me anyway, the trip downtown is confusing, so we ate at Boston's.....OK food They had on the NBA final and I DO NOT like the NBA, wanted the SF Giants nationally televised game. Oh well.
Bend has a huge running community and ONE DAY I want to hit one of their big runs.....
ENJOY.....

That would be me RTB that lives in Bend. I take offense to being called BAC!! hahaha
I love it here! I prefer Bozeman, but if you can't live in Bozeman then Bend is a good place to be. I think you have the breweries flipped, BBC is much more mellow. Too bad you missed 10 Barrel, it's a great place. The food is great, the beer is probably second best to Deschutes. Our 8th brewery just opened up yesterday so there is one more option now.
I know a lot of runners here and if you ever make it up for a run or next time you're through town shoot me a message. I love to meet other Bobcats and also would be happy to recommend some other places for you eat and check out in town.
Oh, and I wouldn't live in Madras or La Pine. They are pretty rough. Bend does have a lot going on and if you want to enjoy it and be close Bend is the place to live!

to the real BAC.....I am soooooooo glad you cannot think of any comebacks.....My reading and comprehension abilities have taken a BIG HIT.....
Did not realize that Madras was a little shady.....It looks great driving through and the valley is pretty.....Good to know.....

I was actually trying to come up with a comeback to rtb ... but couldn't come up with anything worthy. I think you've done your penance for mixing us up already.

One of my best friends lives in Redmond and loves it, she's always trying to talk us into moving there.
Rick, you should come run Fargo! The marathon (half, 10K, relay) here is great, well organized and the crowd support is incredible.

Chi, Redmond is awesome, I had 2 bull riders pull a knife on me at the Palomino club one night. GOOD night! It was the same night that my friend Ted was measuring the diameter of a gals nipple with dimes and nickles................I still have the winning dime.
I retract my earlier statement.....GREAT night!

I grew up in Portland, but spent many winters in Bend. I love that place. If I didn't live in Bozeman, I'd live there - without question.
Yes, it's bigger than Bozeman, but not so much to be something to avoid. During the real estate boom, it saw some massive growth, but it also took a huge hit when things tanked; shrinking the town noticeably.
I remember that place when Century Drive was a little two lane up to Mt. Bachelor. Good times!
griz fans; keeping it classy and gracious in winning since ... well, never.
