Given three years then the boot. Seems Fields is much more tolerant of losing basketball games?
Now I have no idea why-I don't know a thing about volleyball and I have no idea why our team has been so terrible the last few years, but they did beat the griz in the last game of the season-I figured that would have counted for something.

Won three of last four, 4 of last 7 after struggling early. Top three hitters - Natalee Godfrey, Eli Svisco, Kennadie Clute — all missed time early with bad ankle sprains. Only lose two seniors. Godfrey and Svisco will be seniors. Cats have been really young up the middle - middle blocker, setter, defensive specialist - last two years. I figured he'd get a 4th season.

Was this strictly a wins vs. losses decision ? Seems to me we have some good players.

I don't know Kyle or the situation at all but I don't think he was the easiest/best guy for most of these girls to play for. My guess is it wasn't purely wins and losses, and a combo of things.

Does anyone know what is going on with finding a new head coach for Volleyball? It has been close to 2 months and I have not heard anything about finding a new coach. No candidates, no interviews not a mention.

I'm baffled at the lack of communication and transparency by the athletic department and Fields right now. This whole thing is a debacle.

The firing of Kyle Weindel surprised had me scratching my head. If anything Fields has shown a propensity to wait to long before letting coaches go, always holding on hoping after 4-6 year that the coach is almost there and looking for reasons that explains why a coach non-performance can be rationalized away. He though pulled the trigger real quick on Weindel. I would expect this some programs but it is not typically of a Montana State program. Weindell seemed to be a really great recruited landing player we normally don't get, but it does not seem to have translated into more wins. I might have given him 1 more season as these great underclassman get move up. I find though the firing very odd at its timing and now MSU apparent lack of movement in replacing the coach. I also find it interesting the assistants seem to not only employed but almost entrenched in the athletic department. Imagine being a Bobcat volleyball player and having your athletic career in someways put on hold for these past months. I am not going to be surprised if there is another shoe to drop.

It almost seems like there is a scandal they're covering up just because the situation is so very uncharacteristic of MSU Athletics under Fields. And then to not hire another coach 3 months after the fact makes the whole thing even more odd.

Just saw on Twitter that we finally have a volleyball coach hired. Name is JJ Riley. Coming from University of Utah, I think.
