Re: BSC Track pre-meet scoring
Women have a legit shot based on that. MSU track and field has been pretty amazing all year. Some individual performances have been off the charts. You can’t not pay attention to it.mchammer wrote: ↑Mon May 12, 2025 8:13 pmBased on 2025 outdoor season performances, The 2025 Championships would score as follows:

How many distance events left that is where NAU thrives.

Now NAU leading in the men's.
The website the big sky website links to predicts NAU wins for both men's and women's. But the Cats are close on the women's it predicts.

Re: BSC Track pre-meet scoring
The announcer has the teams mixed up. Nau was in first and MSU almost caught them.

Looks like it’s finishing Nau, MSU, UM 1-2-3 in both men’s and women’s.

KBZK has a long article gushing over the Griz taking third place. But nothing about who took first and second.

Re: BSC Track pre-meet scoring
There is so much to be proud about with our Bobcat track program from this season. To actually be considered the favorite over powerhouse NAU is a great achievement in itself. Our athletes/staff are pushing one another so hard to reach this level. The effects aren't visible until the big meet, and not always physical. The men's 1500 was a statement race for MSU. It was inspirational to see Cramb confident in his position at 800 meters as NAU had him boxed. Teammate Sam Ells took the lead which disturbed the program, allowing Cramb to pass the field. Then it would be a sprint between him and Colin Sahlman, who has a 3:52 mile and 1:45 800, and is nigh unbeatable at BSC Championships. But soph Harvey Cramb won, and that was huge for our program. And our men won the Steeple for the 6th consecutive time. Senior Colby Wilson won his fifth vault title with 17-6, and it wasn't easy. Our men won both relays, and that says a lot about our sprints. Without some injuries our men, well.. never mind.
Our women won one event, the vault, with an impressive 13-9 Meet record by soph Tatum Richards. But that was our only win and that's the story about second in team scoring. That, and some injuries and misfires, kept the team in second this year. It seemed like other teams were hitting peaks that made for some surprising upsets. Too many things went wrong for us and right for others to win. This season was about huge breakthroughs that were hard to reproduce at BSC. The 2-3-4 discus finish at BSC was a bright spot that added 19 team points.
UM is much better, and will continue on this arc. They have a positive vibe and are coming through with big PR's that are exciting. The staff is doing a good job, and recruiting well. We beat them easily in the dual late March. They appeared to be coming out of active-rest after indoor season.
I don't completely understand the NIL settlement, but I understand that only three BSC programs opted in, which has benefits, but requires adherence to new roster limits. Our women had 52 this year, but can have 45 next year. Our men had 38, and will be OK there next year to satisfy gender equity. UM did not opt in and can load up a big roster, but can't adopt the new scholarship limits. It's a factor in track program development. There are many factors. We're all glad to see UM progress for the future of the sport.
