MBB vs Denver

For those of us who aren't fully absorbed by football right now, the MSU men will be playing Denver today at 1:00, one of only two non-conference home games against D-1 opposition this year. :(

Denver is 0-2 having lost two road games in the Pacific Northwest, 84-73 to Seattle U and 84-70 to Danny Sprinkle and Washington. Somewhat of a revenge game as MSU had a bad loss at Denver last season, although there aren't many players left on the team who were around for that one!

What is it with us letting 1 player get red hot and keeping a team in the game single-handedly?

Fun first half. Good crowd. Cats are playing with a lot of spirit and heart. I like what I'm seeing in that regard

Good game, whichever team can actually string together a few defensive stops in a row should get the win. Denver can shoot.

This officiating crew doesn't seem to think offensive fouls are a thing.

We also locked down number 0 on the second half. He just got his first basket wiry about five minutes left. Sheet a blatant lane violation.

McMahon on the bench the whole second half? That can't be good.

Logie’s legacy is gong to be losing games at the buzzer and surrendering leads.

Well gotta thank them for quelling any hopes I had early in the season. Would be nice having a shred of confidence that they can can close out a tie game with 30 seconds left but you know your guaranteed to see a bad offensive possession followed by a worse defensive one.... Then cant even inbound down 2 with 1.8 seconds left...

Get picked apart all game long playing man-to-man. Too hard headed to try a zone?

This one is pretty disheartening, had it in their hands and just couldn't get a stop or a defensive rebound when they needed one. Really hope McMahon is ok and they're just being careful.

Can’t believe the number of times the Cats had a wide open lay-up and passed it outside so they could miss a three. If you got a bunny, take it. We win if they do.

Watched this one in person. Crowd just rarely got into this one. I don't know why we didn't try to go insde more, and it seemed Denver's players would often literally push their defenders to the side with their free hand and drive to the basket. I don't remember seeing it happen so often before, and apparently it is completely legal because it was never called as a foul.

We didnt protect the Brick. Jed was giving it his all and I have a feeling that it will be contagious as the season progresses.

This is exactly what I noticed. The TV crew made a point of saying how great DU was on set plays coming out of timeouts. I saw it in person at CU and again at DU....we are AWFUL out of timeouts. It makes me wonder...why? If Logie is more of a program manager & not an X's and O's guy....that's fine. Then, let your best assistant draw up plays. To look that bad at the end of games is unacceptable.

I am not so sure about this. I specifically recall the CU announcers talking about an MSU play coming out of timeout that resulted in a dunk. Well drawn and executed. When we don’t convert, it could be more about execution than design. Logie is smart. I just want to see improvement closing out games. And that should improve further into the season as we have 10 new guys.
