Esme

She deserves her own thread. The measurables and unmeasurables are insane on her. Listen to the ESPN radio interview Colter did with her yesterday and how she talks about leadership. And Coach Bin talking about her on Cat Chat this week. There was another thread we had a leadership discussion on. She's a leader. Pure and simple. I'm even more thrilled with her being here now more than ever. And I was excited when she announced she was coming here. And I'm excited for how I'm sure she's rubbing off on our younger players and modeling the way she goes through the paces. Our future looks so bright with Dylan and Natalie as well and it struck me thay Esme mentioned coach Bin always has one of the top point guards in the league and I have no doubt we'll have that in these next two as well!

I knew Esme could score from her time at PSU. But I had no idea about all of the other intangibles and leadership she would bring to this team. Her influence is huge this year, and as noted by lutecat, will be felt over the next few years. She has been a joy to watch!

I'll never forget her performance against the Bobcats at the 2023 Big Sky tourney. She just lit us up in a huge upset win for the Vikings. I was pretty happy when we heard she was coming here. There's been many impactful transfers within the conference, but MSU has really hit the jackpot with Fallyne Freije and now Esme Morales. Fallyne was player of the year and Esme should be as well. Credit to Binford as well for setting them up to get the best out of them while not blowing up the rest of the team. This season has been so much fun.

The great thing about Esme is that she could clearly be leading the conference and maybe even the nation in scoring if she wanted to, but she's clearly focused on the team goals far more than on her own individual stats. I think once MSU gets to Boise and (hopefully) beyond we'll see her assert herself a bit more and really take control of the offense. Sophie Glancey of NAU is strong competition but I really hope Esme wins Big Sky MVP this year.

I met her walking across campus the other day. She is very gracious and humble. As I tell my students after my daily "Mathematician of the Day" segment, "Boss lady."

MVP all the way. I think Glancey is the best center in the Big Sky Conference, but Esme is on another level in bringing the most out of her teammates on either end of the court.

While I agree with your thinking…just wanted to point out that those who select the Big Sky Player of the week are well “enamored” with Glancey…..7 of 16 weeks they have selected her as POW. Even this week, Esme is co-player of the week with Glancey. I suspect they will award the individual performer over the team builder. But we shall see.

So here's where I'm at...Tommy wins the Payton and Cam is motivated to go out and show the world he was worthy. So let Glancy win the individual. Let's win as a team!
