MBB vs Sac State

MSU (8-13, 3-5) plays Sac State (6-14, 2-5) tonight at 7 PM at the Brick. This will be a critical weekend for MSU playing at home against two teams they are certainly capable of beating. Sweep and they're feeling pretty good about themselves heading into the second half of conference play at 5-5. Split and they're still treading water at 4-6 and in serious danger of being out of the Top 6 come tournament time. Lose both and...yikes, that will really test Logie's "trust the process" mentality. ESPN's matchup predictor gives MSU a 88.7% chance of winning tonight, for whatever that's worth.

My Debbie Downer prediction.
Cat's will have a 12 to 15 point lead a little over half way through the 2nd half, but with 2 minutes left the game will be tied.
The final outcome could go either way, but Cat's should still be favored with home court.

It'll be nice if we have a fully healthy roster for this weekend (not sure how Brian Goracke & Tyler Patterson are healing up). Seniors are dangerous this time of year, as they know they are doing this for the final time and they usually turn it up to full throttle.

Some Stats:
Sacramento State is 10th in the Big Sky Points , Field Goal% and 3 Point%. They are also 8th in Free Throw%.. Hornets are a Defense 1st team, and have scored over 80 points VS a D-1 school once this year.
Also, I hear there will be a special guest color guy tonight... He is tall.

I hope it's Robert Ford III!
Sure he was listed at only 6' but there are very few former Bobcats that can stand as tall as he can.

Goracke isn't playing but isn't wearing a boot. Good news, I guess.

Cats are playing decent defense so far. They've forced two shot clock violations (taking a cue from the women?) and had one SICK block. Mullins had enough time to tie his shoe before hitting a wide open three.

Cats lead by 5 at half. Shooting the ball well from 3 and managing the game so far. IMO, the Cats relied on the 3 ball too much the last 10 minutes. I loved the way they shot with confidence and looked to fire when open though. However, 18 3’s in one half is simply too many. If the Cats don’t go 7-18 from 3 they could be down a lot in this game. Need to continue to pound the glass and get rebounds. No one looked like they wanted to grabbed a board the last 10 minutes.
On another note, Sac is like that chippy little brother who starts acting up and just needs to be body slammed onto the floor and put in their place so they realize their place in the BigSky. Cats need to come out strong the first 5 minutes and put this game away

Mullins with a nasty dunk on a fast break to take the lead back.

Daggum- we do this all the time - get up by 7-10 going into the last five and then try to slow it down - miss our shots and then let the team creep back in. Frustrates the heck out of me!
