WBB at Puerto Rico Tournament

Bright and early game for the Bobcat women as they play at 8:30 AM Montana time Thursday against Presbyterian, who is 1-10 on the season. Then on Friday the Bobcats will play Puerto Rico-Mayaguez, which is Waded Cruzado's alma mater. They play as an Independent NCAA D-2 team. Pretty cool that the Bobcats are doing that in Waded's final year as President! I wonder if she's down there with the team and if so if she'll make the long trip back to Bozeman for the football game on Saturday.

Pres. Cruzado was a host/tour guide for the team the last time they went to P.R.

And as Lexi checks out Taylor Jansen makes her first season appearance. Welcome back Taylor too!

Taylor Janssen and Lexi Deden are back in the lineup for the Bobcats today. They're off to a tough start offensively but the defense is there as usual so they still lead 22-17 at the half. On paper this should be a blowout, maybe it still will be.

Cats pull away in the fourth quarter to win 57-40. Nice to see Taylor and Lexi back in the lineup, as a very deep roster gets even deeper! 13 different players played for the Bobcats today and 10 of them scored.

I believe I heard the announcer say that President Cruzado was unable to be there. Maybe I misunderstood because I know the Lady Cats always enjoy her presence.

I can confirm she was in Bozeman at around 4:30 yesterday, I walked past her at the sub. Can't imagine she'd miss the semifinal game, probably just unfortunate timing for this tournament.

That’s an early game for the Bobcats, but hopefully, they can handle Presbyterian pretty easily with their record. I think it’s awesome they’re playing Puerto Rico-Mayaguez—cool way to honor Waded Cruzado in her last year. Makes me wonder if she’s there with the team; it seems like the kind of thing she’d really want to be part of. Either way, it’s a nice touch and should be a fun experience for everyone involved!
A bit early but not too bad. 11:30 am PR time. And they did play the game in Florida before going to PR so should be a bit adjusted to time.

Bobcats beat the host team 75-38. Sounds like Deden and Janssen got some more time.

14 minutes for Janssen and 9 for Deden today. It will be interesting to see if Coach Binford changes her starting lineup at all going into conference play, or goes with the "don't fix what isn't broken" strategy and keeps Deden & Chirrick as bench players who will get a lot of minutes.

With the glaring rebounding problem in the preseason, I don’t see how Bin does not give both Dedin and Jansen many more game minutes.

What glaring rebounding problem, they had a 46-14 advantage on the glass today!
I'm sure Deden and Janssen will both get more minutes as they work back into game shape. I'm not sure if I'd call anything a glaring problem with the team right now when they're 10-2 with losses at Big 12 opponent Utah and in OT at Oral Roberts who is 8-3. Rebound margin is -0.5 going into today's game which isn't horrible especially with how many turnovers they generate on defense. That said, I watch them play and feel like they're definitely not running on full cylinders on offense either, but the wins just keep on stacking up. Morales in particular is in a bit of a shooting slump at the moment, but I'm sure she'll get that figured out.
