MBB vs CSUN

Very uninspiring finish to the first half of this game. Cats lead by 1 and finish by not scoring a point the last 3:24 of the first half.
Cats jumped on CSUN early with some hot shooting and have relied on that since. No real offense to be seen. Just passing it around to a somewhat open shots or a pass to Walker to kill all ball movement to drive and get triple-teamed in the lane.

Pretty good defensive effort to start that has since disappeared. Cats still giving up lazy rebounds and too many O-Boards.
Seems like they’re still trying to work off the turkey and stuffing. This shouldn’t be a game…

I'm late to the show.. but I'm seeing one thing i like, Walker actually dished it off a couple times to a 3 point shooter instead of blindly backing in for his spin move. But this game is close and the Cats have given up a 4 point lead since I've begun watching.

34 seconds to go. We are down 63-64. Can't get the ball in.. had to call 2 timeouts.

Looks like it's going to OT, McMahon had a chance to win it but could only hit 1 of 2 from the line. Go Cats!

Cats let this one get away, need to shoot way better than this to win these games. Will be interesting to see how they do in the Summit League challenge this week!

Exactly, free throws cost them the game. Cold shooting too.

Tell me if you’ve heard this before… Cats lose a game they had no buisness losing. Better effort in the 2nd half and in OT, just can’t get over the hump of a bad 1st half.
Offense really had issues in this game. Not enough ball movement and lots of standing around. Rebounding continues to be an issue losing the rebounding battle by 4 and giving up 9 offensive boards.
Really appreciated the effort from the guys who played down the stretch and in OT.

I have no idea what Logie was trying to do. Our two pre-season all-conference players sat most of the second half (Goracke and Walker). Neither seem to be playing that well, but the small lineup he had out there had no one who could create their own shot or finish at the rim. Missed contested layups and free throws cost us this one. We're tall, but slow. CSUN is athletic and quick. It was a very bad matchup for us. Team still has a ways to go, but should get a lot better by conference hopefully.

These games are the equivalent of NFL preseason games. I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s not like MSU is going to get in with 27 wins. Logie isn’t stupid.

I watched it again and my take is:
1. We miss Robert Ford. The team, (Logie) hasn't identified "the man" yet. Mullins has tried and so has McMahon both have come up short in the clutch. I think McMahon will eventually be the man. He blew some easy layups that I predict he will make in the future.
2. CSUN shot much better tan they did ahainstvyhe Griz. Maybe city was acdiffetencecin defense...maybecthey just had a bad shooting night against UM. I didn't see a great difference except...
3. The Cats were physically beaten down inside. We can't play the physical game for 40 minutes. When CSUN turned up the pressure late in the game the Cats had rebounds taken away from them, and we had no inside game.
4. I am assuming Logie wanted to let certain combinations stay on the floor to maybe answer some questions he has about his team. Either Walker was too tired or Logie felt he was a liability in the clutch.

This is a lot like they looked early last year. I can see a method in the way Logie develops teams. If they progress like last year I can see why he has the record he does.

Cats run last year started when he was forced to play his 7 ft guy due to injuries. Do we have one of those on the bench.

Seeing the game court side, I have to keep telling myself, last season Coach Logie was able to steer the ship right when it counted most. However as many have stated, he had RF3. The emergence of a court leader has yet to happen. Of the three point guards; Jabe, Jed, and Bryce, I believe Jed and Bryce have what it takes to rally the troops around them. They play with more passion and energy than Jabe does, and seem to possess better handles.

Max isn't anything other than a scorer. Nothing more. Nothing less. Until he completely buys in to what Logie is after, he won't be anything other than a one man band. In fact, there were several times Saturday where Logie blew up on the sidelines because of things Max did or didn't do to make the team better. I'm not dismissing his 21 pt effort in the least. He just lacks the ability, currently, to make those around him better. The same goes for Walker. The problems with him clogging up the middle of the court have spilled into this year. Yes, he's a bucket getting machine, especially early in games, but All Conf. players get it done tip off to game ending whistle. Notice, when things got tight at the end of the game, Walker was riding pine. We have the dudes to compete and play physically. It comes down to effort and how bad some of them want it.

End note, after the game ,when the school song was being played and the players gather at center court to thank the crowd, Max had to called back, TWICE, as he was heading for the showers, seemingly not wanting to be with the team. Bryce and Sam were in the middle of the huddle leading and pumping up the guys.

Amen that, tall and slow and I been trying to figure out what he is doing all year. We seem not to attack the rim hard or get many easy transition layups.
