23-24 Mbb Schedule Thread

Post by lv2hoop » Tue May 09, 2023 4:14 pm

As of 8/9/23
Full Season Schedule now on the MSU Athletics website - no game times posted yet. Quick comments about the schedule - this is about as good as it gets for non-conference home opponents that we've had in recent years. Getting UC-Riverside, Green Bay, Long Beach, Southern Utah and Oral Roberts all in one year isn't easy. The two road games at Pac-12 schools is typical, and both of those are money games. I'm curious if the Seattle U game is a money game, or if they are coming back to Bozeman next season. Both Long Beach and Southern Utah are return games for games that we played in Cedar City (W) and Long Beach (W) last year.

Ouch, whoever created the Big Sky vs Summit matchups did not take it easy on MSU after they lost the entire coaching staff and over half the roster! Nice to see some quality opponents coming to Bozeman though.

Yes! What a nice upgrade. I believe when they set up the challenge that the teams were matched by league finish. We won the Big Sky, so we get the best. As we would want. A boost to the RPI is a great thing at Tournament time.

I also like another chance to add to the Bobcat - Jackrabbit rivalry. It’s been a very competitive and respectful rivalry, a lot of fun.

Just heard from a reliable source that we have a Pac 12 opponent for next season. I'll give hints of which P12 school we are slated to play. Hint: They've been to the same number of NCAA tournaments in the past 10 years as the MSU Bobcats have (two).

I remember watching the Cats beat Washington back in 1982 at the Brick. UW had a decent player named Detlef Schrempf and the Cats had a guy named Craig Kilborn. Not sure what happened to either of those guys but the Cats won the game. \:D/

Would have been sweet to have Battle and taken on UW, his old team.

One of them ended up on the NBA Jams arcade game, and the other holds the NCAA record for worst assist to turnover ratio (his words)...

From my understanding, there is a new clause in the NCAA transfer rules that allows for the player to return to play one game for his/her previous school if this type of scenario takes place. :)
