Big Sky Conference tournament features

Post by Colter_Nuanez » Thu Mar 02, 2023 7:33 pm

Myself and Andrew Houghton will have a dozen or so features leading up to and during the upcoming Big Sky Conference basketball tournaments from Boise, Idaho.

First up from Houghton

Newlee, Sobolewski have had as much tourney success as any BSC coach

Anyone else kind of glad NAU landed on the other side in the MBB bracket? Perhaps they lose by 20 today. Perhaps they are extremely underrated. ??

Absolutely. It seems like every one of their losses was in overtime, losing on a last second shot, etc. they could easily have like 6 more wins in conference Play.

Also probably worth pointing out the only first round team to beat us was UI. Also on the other side.

Yeah, yeah, I know I'm overthinking it. You either show up or go home with every game this time of year.

Tough break for Idaho State. Their best player Callie Bourne must have gotten hurt in practice this week. She's in a leg brace on the bench. ISU is easily the worst team in the league without her. Portland State had an easy one in preparation for their game tomorrow against the Bobcats.

The first day of the Big Sky Conference tournament began on Saturday March 4, 2023 from Boise, Idaho.

No. 9 Northern Colorado beat No. 10 Weber State 63-52 to advance to the quarterfinals. UNC will play top-seeded Northern Arizona at noon on Sunday.

No. 7 Portland State got its first win under second-year head coach Chelsea Gregg by cruising past short-handed Idaho State 73-58. The Bengals were without All-Big Sky point guard Callie Bourne, who suffered a season-ending knee injury earlier this week. PSU advances to play No. 2 Montana State, the defending tournament champions, at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
