Montana State’s Bussey Named Big Sky Player of the Week
Dec. 6, 2011 – BOZEMAN, Mont. - Montana State’s Katie Bussey has been named the Big Sky Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. This is the fourth time in Bussey’s career she has been named POTW.
“Last week was one of the best in Katie’s career at Montana State,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “She stepped-up and made some huge players when we needed her senior leadership the most. It’s unbelievable to me the numbers she had considering our opponents were keying on her with a lot of different looks.”
Bussey was the key in the Bobcat’s three victories this past week, including wins over Colorado State, Utah State and North Dakota. Playing her fifth game in nine days, Bussey finished off the three-game stretch with 23 points, lifting MSU over future Big Sky Conference foe North Dakota in Grand Forks on Sunday afternoon. The win was also MSU’s fourth consecutive victory.
For the three games, Bussey averaged 19.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals, while shooting an impressive 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from beyond the arc and 71.4 percent from the line.
Even more impressive was Bussey’s defensive efforts in holding the Mountain West Conference’s preseason player of the year pick Kim Mestdagh (Colorado State) scoreless from the field. On Friday, the Bobcats clamped down on the WAC’s preseason MVP selection Ashlee Brown (Utah State), allowing her just eight points on three-of-15 from the floor.
Bussey now has 1,364 points on her career, which is 7th on MSU’s all-time scoring list. In addition, she connected for eight 3-pointers last week to give her 206 for her career, which moved her up to fifth on the Big Sky’s all-time 3-point makes chart.

Re: Bussey Named Big Sky Player of the Week
Bussey is have a great year!! She is playing at a high level and doing it consistently game in and game out! The question this year is not will Busey have a good game but will she score 17 or will she go off for a 20+ plus game. To make things tougher for opponents she is also averaging close to 4 assists per game. I know football season is still going, but you need to make it down to the field house and cheer on one of the better basketball player to ever play for the Women Bobcats during her senior year. Here is her current stat line for the year. 19.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and shooting 51% from the field 39% from three point range and 78% from the line. The Bobcat Women's team currently has a 7-2 record and the highest RPI in the league. Get out and show the some support!

If she keeps that up she'll be in the running for BSC MVP.mslacat wrote:Bussey...her current stat line for the year. 19.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and shooting 51% from the field 39% from three point range and 78% from the line.
