MSU @ WSU

Post by AJWILDCAT » Fri Feb 04, 2011 12:49 pm

MSU seems to be struggling lately, and WSU has just beat the 2 top teams in the conference, that being said, I think MSU is a tough match up for WSU. They have similar styles, and similar size. It will all come down to effort on Saturday. Any bobcat fans coming down to this one? Or are you all already looking forward to football?

Are you kidding? We can't get Bobcat fans to Bozeman for a b-ball game let alone get them to travel to watch the Cats! Our basketball season is over. Weber kicks our arse by 20 in Ogden, then next week N. Colorado kicks us by 16 in Bozeman. By the time we match up with an opponent that we might actually be able to beat (Sac. State the following Saturday), it will be a miracle if this team hasn't quit yet. Our only hope is that ISU and EWU continue to play even more poorly than us, and that combined with a post-season ineligible PSU team, we will limp into the BSC tourney as a 6 seed where we will have to travel to either Weber or NAU and get pounded again.

Sorry for such a sunny, optimistic post, but the Cats play of late just reminds me of yet another second half meltdown. I just don't get it

Sorry, I didn't realize it had gotten that bad up there already. Hate to see any of the traditional Big Sky teams struggle like this. (well except the Griz)

Yeah, the mood ain't too positive up here. Many of us are old enough to remember a time when Bobcat basketball was relevant. We remember a time when Bobcat teams consistently competed for the BSC title, when we made trips to the Big Dance, when fans turned out in droves to watch a game. I personally remember the time when Bobcat football struggled so much that the Bobcat fans' mantra used to be, "Well, just wait for basketball season!" Unfortunately, men's basketball has almost become a sidenote to our football program. I love it that the football program has turned things around and has become a BSC power, but just hate it that it seems basketball has taken such a hit.

i'll tone it down. my thing is i have always been more passionate about the hoops team than football. so i really am not doing anything different than what many here did when the football team was struggling so bad. people have high expectations for the football team...and i have high expectations for the basketball team. i certainly have more knowledge about basketball than football and i'm much more familiar about our hoops program than football so i come across with strong opinions.

but people are simply blind if they really think this program is headed in the right direction. this doesn't mean that it CAN'T....it just means it ISN'T. people can call me names, disagree with everything i say, think i'm completely clueless...that is all fine. it won't stop me from expressing my concerns or opinions on why this program has been so bad for so many years. at this rate, i fully expect idaho state and northern colorado to represent the big sky in the tourney before the cats do. it is frustrating....

Does anybody remember that the Cats are 8 - 1 at the Brick this season. You can all use a lot of excuses to not go see them play, but they have played well at home this year with the exception of the Griz game. I've gone to every home game so far and I will go to the rest of them too. It really is a good time! What else is there to do most nights anyway. It's cheaper than going to a movie. Come on everyone show some support for the Cats, especially for our seniors, they bust their but every night.

Very true. And the Griz game saw UM shoot 67%, so I don't think too many teams would've beat them that night.

I say MSU either wins or comes really close today. Weber has a knack for laying an egg here and there. Lost to MSU two years ago in the tourney, then blew a 20-point lead to UM in the championship game. I think game time is 4:00.

big misconception and it happened with the football team too. no one here is saying they won't go to games. in fact, i would bet that almost any poster on this board goes to almost all of the games. i know i do. despite how frustrated i am with this team, i will still go to every game. but not every fan out there is like most of the fans on this board. most people will find other things to do rather than watch a team play so poorly. i agree it is frustrating but it's how it works.

i know i am very aware that the cats are 8-1 at home. i hope that continues because we have won ONE game on the road and unfortunately we have to play 4 more away from home i think. i also know that the cats have lost 4 straight so that great home record might be in jeopardy...

WSU 20
MSU 10

Bamforth for WSU has been shooting lights out even with someone right there.

WSU is also getting away with murder when it comes to fouls not getting called.

Bobby is doing a good job driving to the hole.

Cats making horrible passes, Weber shooting lights out from 3. Down 15 with 4:30 left to play in the first. I'm glad we got to see this on national TV.

I think they said Weber is shooting 85% ...they can't miss.

MSU 6 turnovers
WSU 1

plus when the ball is on the ground Weber is getting there faster.

in the pre game Coach Huse said their original flight was called back ...didn't get to Weber until 12:30 last night. Missed walkthru and shoot around.

If you can't hit any shots might as well play tenacious defense...

There is a decent chance we are one of the worst teams in Division 1. Yes the score is a lil lopsided cuz Weber is shooting lights out, but at some point when opponents keep shooting lights out against you, it's time to question the D. We turn the ball over, shoot poorly, make poor decisions, and leave guys wide open.
