2 Lady Cats Dismissed

I saw on the news this evening that 2 lady cats were dismissed from the team. Yes I am a Griz fan but I hate to see young athletes make mistakes that eliminate their chances to play the game they really enjoy and are talented at no matter where they go to school.

My question is, were these 2 likely to be solid contributors next season?
If so, I guess it is opportunities for others to shine.

Just saw the news item and the two players were Beta Bach and Janette Jackson. Both were solid contributors, Beta early and Janette late, and if this plays out to be final it will be a loss to the Bobcats. As in any situation, you certain hate to hear dismissed for violation of team rules or any reason... but the show will go on and the Cats will be fine. I hope for the best for those two young ladies.

As do I. I have enjoyed seeing the competition improve for both teams in MT. I think it is more enjoyable when the outcome of the rivalry is not a forgone conclusion as in years past in BSC women's basketball.

http://bozeman-www2.bozemandailychronic ... og/?p=3405 I know nothing else because I've been traveling all day. This might be all we get, at least publicly. Jackson, in my opinion, would have been the third starting guard next season. Now there's a few possibilities for the scholarship uses and such, but I'll get into that later

Just from a production standpoint losing Jannette Jackson hurts a lot. She was just starting to come on at the end of the season and could be counted on to get a double double each night.
She was just a different athlete from what we see in the Big Sky and could lock down the opponents best player.
Coach Binford must be just sick about this whole situation.

I never saw them play but just out of curiosity...she only had 2 double, doubles all year last season. She did have several other big rebounding games, but her minutes seemed to decrease as the season went on. Had she already fallen out of favor with Binford, did she get injured? Just curious.

Obviously it's not what Coach Binford wanted, but my hat goes off to her. Clearly the violation of team rules warranted dismissal from the team and she didn't take the easy way out. Good lesson for young people who think they're 10-feet tall and bullet proof: you screw up, there will be consequences, and sometimes those consequences are going to be harsh.

Boy this came as a surprise! I feel sorry for the players, do you just realise you blew a scholarship. On the plus side I have no doubt that either will make a D-2/NAIA school very happy next year.
From a basketball point of view both brought something to the court that will be hard to replace, but neither player is irreplaceable. I beleive Binford was looking at possibly signing a JC player this spring still, but if she and her coaches could not find the "right player" they could just as well as hold the scholarship over to next year. I think this will put the Cats in the position to have to sign 1-2 players and I would guess one almost have to get an inside player, since none of their 2010 recruits are inside players.

With Jackson, with her transfer having to sit out and I think an injury, she hadn't played any real BB for two years before midway through last season. She had a very strong tournament and her offense was starting to come around even if it was off of rebounds and hustle.
She was just starting to come into her own on the basketball floor and the upside was tremendous. This probably opens the door for Latisha Adams.

I was thinking the same thing. 3 scholarships open you have to imagine the coaches would love to get Tilleman in the system.

Has your girl from Libby committed anywhere yet? Do you think we would offer her a scholarship now, or are we looking more towards a true 4/5?

Tilleman would have to sit out a year....right?
After sitting out, how many playing years would she have left?

Tillman would need to sit one and have two years. Can someone tell me why she is leaving OSU? I must have missed that.
On the situation with these two players being dismissed I am betting this was not the first infraction Trish seems to be a fair person who understands young people make mistakes so if they are gone it is probably a "last straw broke the camel's back" situation. I think this program is strong enough to sustain the loss of these two players.

I am not 100% sure why, but OSU is hemorrhaging players I beleive they have lost 6 players so far.

Bak started ut the season leading the team in blocks and playing good defense and having a few good offrensive games....but when league started she was either above her pay grade or she stopped learning...I believe she was a mediocre center for most of the league year. Jackson however was the energizer for the team....the team started to play well when she entered the starting lineup. She could jump quicker than most, and was quicker than most defensively. She reminded me of a Dennis Rodman type...maybe in more ways than one!

I think Bak lost favor (and playing time) when Binford ask her to considerate more on rebounding first, and scoring second - after Bak had a couple very nice scoring outings (not so good rebounding). I am not sure how Bak responded to this but, Semansky though took rebounding to heart and quickly started finding favor. Bak could score but last years team had scorer but not many rebounders. Jackson on the other hand really came on late and when Siedensticker (SP?) went down to injury very late Jackson really shined. Still with the returning players and the players coming in I think she can more readily be replaced. Bak, though, will be tougher to replace unless the Lady Cats land a couple of the JC's there are said to be chasing.

I think Bak resented having to play underneath...it seemed like she wanted to shoot threes and shied away from contact underneath...and she had slow feet! I think Semanksy was twice the player Bak was!
