Austin Brown
Does anyone know why Austin Brown has left the program? I hope it's because he felt the new recruits were so much better than he was!

Re: Austin Brown
i'm betting that was a pretty big part. i like austin a lot. but i just didn't see him playin much in the coming years. i'm sure he'll do fine wherever he goes. seems like a good guy.
do you have to know everything to post here? or just think you do?

Re: Austin Brown
Wasn't this guy supposed to be like the second coming or something? I thought everyone was raving about how talented and athletic he was? Why would he feel threatened by incoming freshman??

well, it depends on who was doing the raving. if you are talking about guys on this board, than that goes without saying. not a knock on this board at all. all boards are like that. you get enough excited, passionate fans, and combine that with the fact that typing doesn't always translate...and it's easy to think that when people are high on a player they're claiming them the 2nd coming. but yes, many of us did think that he had a chance to be pretty good. and i still think he's talented, and very athletic. however, that doesn't always mean that they are gonna come in and be stars. i mean look at his numbers this year. what'd he play, about 10 minutes a game? probably a few points and a couple boards? and i think we should be a better team next year than this year. just don't see him increasing his production. like i said though, i'm just speculating. but from what i know he's a good person, and a pretty good student. playing time seems to be the biggest factor in my mind. i'm sure mslacat will have the scoop soon.technoCat wrote:Wasn't this guy supposed to be like the second coming or something? Re: Austin Brown
I think that Austin had problems finding a true position within the offense. Athletically he is a freak. However I think that he may have been too inconsistent with his outside shot from the guard position to nail down a starting spot, and while he could rebound underneath very well, the lack of size at the small forward position probably hurt him. Where ever he ends up pl
With Bynum and Navarre gone he had a chance to step in at the off guard position but probably just grew really frustrated up to this point.

Re: Austin Brown
I don't remember anyone touting him as the 2nd coming. Everyone was excied by his athletic ability, some saying he was/is the most athletic player we've had at MSU for quite awhile (which I won't argue), but I believe most people understood he was very raw and needed to develop his basketball skills to go with that athletic ability.
I personally thought he would eventually develop into a good player for us. Did he ever redshirt? I can't remember. I think he played a true freshman right? Maybe he needed a redshirt year to develop.
I'm sure he has his reasons. I wish him luck wherever he ends up!
