Cat/Griz men

Post by MSU01 » Sat Feb 27, 2010 8:40 pm

Cats looking good so far, up 23-16 with 7 minutes to play at the first. Griz getting a ton of FTs but most have been good calls. Cats doing a nice job of going to the basket and not just firing up quick 3s.

Wow - this is great basketball by the 'Cats. Easily the best they have played since the first half against UM in Bozeman. Hopefully they can carry this into the tournament.

For as good as the game is, I hate watching/listening to games from Missoula. Video is crappy. At least I can mute the sound.

38-30 MSU at the half - Cats led by as many as 12. Great offensive play. It's amazing how much better we look when we run the offense and don't just jack up 3s or rely too much on one-on-one play.

MSU leads 47-34 at the under 12 media timeout. Griz have scored only 4 points in the second half and the Cats are outrebounding the Griz 28-13.

I was a little worried starting the second half, as that was what we came out doing - jacking up threes....and missing. Luckily, Montana wasn't hitting anything either. 11:40 left, MSU up 47-34. Playing really well.

Cats up 58-43 with 5:36 to go. Griz cut it to 10 with 6 straight but a 5-0 run from MSU has built up the lead again. Hang on please!!!

Anthony Johnson finally misses after hitting 3 straight 3's, Piepoli hits 2 FTs, then Cats get a stop and Howard going to the line. Cats up 8 with :26.5 to go!

Cats win 73-67, and it would have been a much bigger margin except for the AJ and the Griz going nuts from 3 point range in the last few minutes. Great, great win!

Here's a trivia question: I wonder when the last time was that the women and men both won in Missoula in the same year. Did the men also win in '99 when the women won there for the only time since the '70s?

Congrats Bobcats!! =D^ Dominated the game from start to finish, Bymun had a helluva game and all around one of the better games this season. There were some great set plays called by Huse coming out of timeouts that were huge! Great day to be a Bobcat.

Un-freeking-believable! What a weekend for the MSU basketball programs. Congrats to coaches Binford and Huse. Congrats to the players.

Great job from Huse taking the air out of the ball in second half. I was amazed the griz let us do it for so long. I would have thought a press or a trap would have been in order.

Will Bynum sure earned his scholarship tonight. Getting that late dunk was icing on the cake for him.

But now we've got to take on a loose outfit from Portland State. That's a scarey matchup. Y'all better show up next weekend and cheer 'em on!
