Bobcats vs Bears- MBB

Post by GOKATS » Sun Jan 31, 2010 1:48 pm

Tough road game, but it'd be a big win if the cats can sweep the Bears this year. The griz handed them their first home loss, let's make it two.

Game time is 2 pm MST and the game is on Altitude as well as BigSky TV. Go Cats!!!

Yeah, it would be a huge win for MSU today. I think the road split went by the wayside Thursday night with the cold start vs. NAU. This team has surprised me a few times this year, so who knows.

Bears and Bobcats are tied for second currently. The winner is alone in second place, the loser is tied for third with UM. Only six league games to go after today and Weber State will be up by two games.

Prediction: UNCO 72, MSU 65.

Yep, this is a huge game for both teams if they want to be one of the top 2 seeds and earn a first-round bye. MSU will be tied with UM with a loss, but of course they still have to travel to Missoula. UM has a very favorable schedule from here on out, with only 2 more road games, and those appear to be rather winnable. Weber is in great shape, but they still have the Montana trip next weekend with 4 of their remaining games on the road. UNC still has to travel to Weber in what will be a huge game; however, they also have just two road games remaining.

We're all here 'cause we ain't all there.

Great game so far, tied 34-34 at the half. Cats were down by 8 but came right back. Here's to pulling off a win in the 2nd half. Go Cats!!!

Yeah, that was a nice run at the end of the half. Good thing, cuz it was looking kinda grim there for a second.

A win today and MSU has 4 of 7 at home and all three road games are definitely winnable. This game will set the tone for that. I still like UNCO today, but MSU has a knack for grinding out wins in close games....if they start making FTs.

An interesting game that im sure has many wsu fans such as myself watching on tv.

first half stats: FT's seem to be teh only stat that stands out so far

unc 12-12
msu 3-8

both teams shooting 50% from downtown.

Got up 6, but couldn't get a rebound. That has to change. 44-43.

52-48 MSU with 8:00 to play. UNCO's gonna stick that #32 back in pretty soon. He's been in foul trouble all game.

Cody made a nice play on that block, held ball.

That was ugly. Five straight points by UNCO. FT, O reb off missed FT, basket, missed 3 by MSU, two more for UNCO.

53-52 UNCO.

One of the most frustrating things to watch is the Cats' inability to score against a zone defense. There is no movement and they just seem genuinely confused. Bobby is perfect to play against this type of defense if you put him at the high post, let him face up and shoot or make a move, suck in the baseline defense and kick it out for an open shot. Obviously they still have to make the bucket, but at least something would be happening rather than the wait until there is 10 seconds left on the shotclock only to chuck up a three with a hand in their face.

Down 7 with 2:25 to go. UNCO keeps hitting FTs. MSU hasn't had a FG since at least the 8:00 mark. Only two FTs in that same time.

Good effort on the road, just couldn't pull it out at the end. Final 68-74 Bears.

The Bears are good. They still have an outside shot to catch Weber, but will have to win in Ogden and have WSU get roughed up when they come to the Treasure State.

I'd like to see MSU at least hold on to fourth place and get a home game in the first round. In serious need of re-grouping right now though. Gonna have to pick up a game for losses to EWU and getting swept this week.
