After watching both the men's and women's team this weekend, I am seeing one common thread with both team's losses.
We are getting out rebounded by a margin of 16-18.
On the men's side I have a feeling it is more about personnel than effort and understanding. On the women's side it seems to be about bringing a consistent effort and focus to rebounding.
Both teams are playing very hard and will continue to get better and the conference races should be interesting.

part of the cats rebounding problem lies in the fact that Brandon Johnson, often the biggest guy on the floor for the cats, is twenty five feet from the basket.

Re: Rebounding is the Key
MSU had a similar situation to this a while back. I remember Aaron Rich being on that team and he was the leading rebounder, but he had to work too hard at that and it cut into his offense. I think it was the year before MSU won the reg. season title. The next year Latovic came in and that made all the difference in the world, but he left after that and we sank back down the next season.
If Cody Anderson was good enough offensively to get on the court and focus on hitting the boards, he could put MSU over the top. Would doing that disrupt the chemistry we have? Any other ideas?

Re: Rebounding is the Key
Cody is a terrible rebounder...he can't jump and his hands must be pretty small because he has trouble getting a handle on the ball even when he's right under the basket when it comes off. He's a big body who can shoot from outside....I really don't see him ever posting up because his hands are wooden! We need a couple of 6-9 leapers with big hands! A 6-9 Will Bynum would be great!
Where does Eastern keep getting these ball players. Glen Dean played like a seasoned senior. I thought they just lucked out getting Stuckey...but they must have a pipeline to big talent!
Idaho state has a fast point guard, so does Portland and Northern Colorado. We need one to guard them when Navarre leaves! (Of course I think Figgins and Waters are seniors!)
