Woooo-hoooo! The men's b-ball season kicks off tonight with an exhibition match against Saskatchewan! I can't make it down to Bozeman this evening, but I see Big Sky TV will have the game on, so I will have to tune in there. With some of the injuries and illnesses, we'll have to see who all gets PT tonight. Can't wait!

While normally these exhibition games can be blow out I think to nights game will be real interesting. Saskatchewan comes in with I believe 6 games already under their belt. They are ranked # 7 in Canada and will feature a team that runs the ball and presses on defence. I beleive they have been averaging close to 85 points a game so far this season. They feature a kid by the name of Showron Glover who is a 5-10 guard out of California who is averaging over 30 points a game and a whole bunch of assists and steals. He is a leading candidate for the Canadian player of the the year this year. This Saskatchewan team is also a very strong reabounding team.

I think there is a chance that the cat's could be short handed tonight. I understand the flue bug has been going through the team and there have been some nagging injuries. It should be a very entertaining game.

We trail 39-38 at halftime.

After getting out to a nice 16 point lead and looking really good we kind of lost our way and let them back in it. Saskatchewan is hitting a lot of really tough shots while Huse is tinkering with different lineups.

The result of this one is immaterial of course. This other team is quite a ways into their season and it does show. However, our team looks much more poised than early last season. Other than the gaping hole left by Mbunga we should be better at every position. Unfortunately, Anderson doesn't have any of Mbunga's inside moves.

Austin Brown looks really good. The new backup point guard Louff also was impressive.

I watched most of the game over the Internet last night, and I must say the experience was a much better one than I have had in the past, although I knew the picture resolution was not all that good when I confused Brandon Johnson with Erik Rush.

Saw a lot of things I like, the pressure defense on the perimeter, Rush looking to exert himself on offense, some new wrinkles in the offense and Austin Brown! Now there was a period at the end of the first half that it looked like old bad habits started to creep in, but they seem to be able to right the ship in the second half. A little concern, but a whole lot of poetical. I have heard it has been a rough first couple of week of practice with the flue and nagging injuries but I think once Huse can get them all in practice for a few weeks I think this team could really start clicking.

Bobby must be one of those players who plays better in games than in practice because we go through this each year where he Bobby does not make the starting lineup based on pre-season practice, but he comes off the bench and saves the team's butt. Hey and Bobby was passing the ball.

Louff, what I very nice pick-up for a walk-on! I know it is only one game but he did not look like a rookie walk-on last night.

This Canadian team was a lot quicker/athletic at the guard spot than I think any other Canadian team I can remember so I will be curious to see if the Rush / Bynum steal machine can continue once we hit D-1 teams.

It is a great time of the season when everything (with one possible exception) is so optimistic, I love it.

I was at the game and it looks like Louff is going to be fun to watch

I don't think he's bad in practice I think it has to do with injuries or that coach must not like Bobby's game... But I thought they all looked for each other out there very well

The key to this season-as it was for much of last season: If we get a big game out of either Johnson or Howard we will be very good. If we get a big game out of both-we win in a blowout. If neither shows up we're in trouble. Unfortunately, both those players have been plagued with inconsistency.
