If Vigen left and took Mellott, I guarantee you’d be pissed.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 1:38 pmHis job is to do whatever it takes to win at whatever program he's coaching. So if he left, and players wanted to follow him, that's not a moral failure or anything "slimy" on his behalf. We don't think poorly of Logie for taking Goracke with him (and thank goodness he did).

We'd all be pissed, but that doesn't mean it's a "slimy" thing for the coach to do.Bocephus wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 10:43 pmIf Vigen left and took Mellott, I guarantee you’d be pissed.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 1:38 pmHis job is to do whatever it takes to win at whatever program he's coaching. Of course I wouldn’t be happy, but would I think he’s slimy? No. This is just how sports is. I’m not going to pretend I like it, but I also realize that for a lot of players, they’re coming here because of the coach, not the school.Bocephus wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 10:43 pmIf Vigen left and took Mellott, I guarantee you’d be pissed.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 1:38 pmHis job is to do whatever it takes to win at whatever program he's coaching. Re: Devastating
Slimy was the only word I could come up with at the time. I acknowledged his right to go and also acknowledge the players right. This is the first time that our team has had something like this gutting since the new college rules came out. I think I have the right to feel badly about the whole thing , perhaps coming up with a better adjective.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 9:33 amOf course I wouldn’t be happy, but would I think he’s slimy? You can't blame Danny for moving on, MSU is and probably always will be a stepping stone, but there's also no denying that Danny basically dumped gas all over everything he built in Bozeman and threw a match on it when he left. It's just sad for us fans and the university, I can't even imagine what the team would be doing right now if he had stayed, it almost makes me sick to think about.

You can’t blame Sprinkle because his players followed him out the door. It’s what happens at every school when the coach leaves, Utah States roster was gutted as well, and he had to replace just as many players as Logie did. I get ghat it sucked losing Sprinkle and what could have been……but it’s time to move on. Logie has created a competitive team from a picked over portal and high school recruits that were overlooked . Imagine what he’ll be able to do with another year or two. Plus, if Sprinkle hadn’t of left last year he was sure to go this year…..so we were headed for this eventually. The future looks bright for Bobcat Basketball.
