Still just don't see how he isn't their next coach. I think it's a done deal but I guess we'll see. But if I was betting I'd say Danny's time here is done.

Re: Utah State job is open...
The only possible clue that he isnt leaving is signing the UW transfer. But, in todays world, that is probably not much of a clue at all.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 9:31 amStill just don't see how he isn't their next coach. Well, we knew it was coming sooner rather than later but still disappointing to see his run at MSU end so soon. Here's hoping this doesn't cause an exodus to the transfer portal and multiple players following him to Utah.

Firstly, congratulations to Sprinkle. What an amazing job he did here to resurrect our program. This hurts no doubt, but in the current position MSU is in, this is a good problem to have.

Hey guys -- USU Fan here. I hate taking your coach. MSU and Bozeman are super cool. I am hoping that if there's another round of realignment, both MSU and MU join the Mountain West. You'd both already fit right in on the football front, and it'd be a major shot in the arm for your basketball programs.
Good luck with the coaching search. We know how aggravating that process can be.

Well the last time we lost a head men's basketball coach to the State of Utah (Ott Romney to BYU in 1928) we went 36-2 the next season and were declared national champions.

Excited for Danny. He is a class act and will be missed here in Bozeman. My big concern right now is keeping our players. I would not be surprised to see Battle, Osobor and the new UW kid go to Utah State. Battle has already transferred once, but not sure if that is an issue in todays transfer world rules?.?.

Battle is in his fourth year of college (2 at UW, 2 at MSU) so if he's graduating this Spring he can transfer and have immediate eligibility as a graduate transfer. If he isn't ready to graduate yet, he'd need to sit out a year if he leaves.Cataholic wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 11:00 amExcited for Danny. He is a class act and will be missed here in Bozeman. Is there a loophole on the transfer rules if the coach leaves? I have a hard time keeping up with all of the transfer rule changes.MSU01 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 11:05 amBattle is in his fourth year of college (2 at UW, 2 at MSU) so if he's graduating this Spring he can transfer and have immediate eligibility as a graduate transfer. Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

The three exceptions allowing a second undergraduate transfer with immediate eligibility are:wbtfg wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 11:07 amIs there a loophole on the transfer rules if the coach leaves? For reasons related to the student-athletes' physical or mental well-being;
Due to exigent circumstances outside the student-athlete's control (e.g. physical or sexual assault or discrimination based on a protected class); or
Assertions involving diagnosed education impacting disabilities
I don't believe a coaching change on its own would meet any of these criteria.

I just hope the players stay. This team could be incredible next year.
Pretty frustrating that MSU is unable to step up and pay its coaches. I know it’s not that straight forward…. But man it is frustrating.

This really is a BIG accomplishment for Danny. I am trying to remember the last time a Bobcat MBB coach moved up. I guess you might consider Hank Anderson’s move to Northern Arizona as AD?Common Cat wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 10:26 amFirstly, congratulations to Sprinkle. CONGRATULATIONS Coach. This is well deserved.
Now the ball is in Costello’s court to build on the momentum this program has developed. I trust he will make a great hire.
