Bobcat athletics is a business to the coaches, school leadership, and players. It's time the fans treat Bobcat athletics as a business too.

Can't argue with any of those choices.

Great respect for Chirrick. She's going to be a force of nature the next several years. Almost hope she mails it in next week so somebody doesn't recruit her away.

Chirrick had big out-of-state offers coming out of HS.

I think she will stay with us unless one of the *really* big teams comes after her.

I don't know if anyone has already said this but let me just say that if Avery Wadington stays in the BSC through her full college career she stands a really good chance of being selected as the MVP multiple times.

She is good and she plays with a level of maturity unlike most freshman.

Her defense is elite and will get better as she learns from her mistakes. She gets out of position once in a while and that causes a few too many fouls, but her speed allows to recover most of the time. Her ball-handling will get better (she led the team in TOs per minute) with time, but her shooting needs work. She has a hiccup in her shooting technique.

Agree on all points. The common denominator for young/emerging superstars is the parts of the game that make them elite/special are innate and on full display, and the parts of the game that need work are all very coachable and easily developed. Taylee checks this box.

She needs to develop a true jump shot. Right now her repertoire consists of the layup and the 3 pt set shot. If you notice she can drive into the lane but if someone is between her and the basket she passes back out. If she could stop and shoot the 10 footer in the middle of the key her offensive game could be doubled. Something Mac Koenig has developed.

You need to develop a shot before you can work on a jump shot. Her form/technique needs a complete overhaul from ground zero.

With the number of years and quality of teams and coaches she's had exposure to it is unbelievable and a shame that multiple people years ago didn't help/make her develop a better shot long ago. With that shot so ingrained in her by now it's likely to take lots of work and it could get worse before getting better. Fingers crossed
On another note she made great improvement on her ball handling on the floor this year and hopefully that will continue. She's an amazing athlete.

I don't think you'll turn her into a jump shooter. With her speed and jumping ability finishing at the rim with either hand will be key. She's going to get fouled a lot so getting better from the free throw line is important. And if she can get that 3 point set shot dialed in, which I think she will, she will be deadly because teams will have respect it which will open up the route to the rim. Finally, we need her to be a rebounder. Working on all the nuances of rebounding will be more helpful to the team than a jump shot. Dennis Rodman is in the Hall of Fame-with no jump shot. Taylee will be that kind of player-but hopefully with better fashion sense.

Agreed, I think her goal for next year should be to add 5-10% to both her free throw and 3-point shooting percentages. She showed flashes this year but just doesn't have the consistency yet that she should be able to develop over the next three years. Marah Dykstra is a great model to follow, her 3-point percentage has increased from 21 to 25 to 38 in her three seasons.and she became a major weapon from the outside this year in addition to her solid free throw and paint scoring capabilities.

I like your perspective and thoughts BB and 01. From comments that coach Binford has made, one thing we can assuredly count on is that TC will put in lots of hard work in the off season to improve her game.

Tomcat nominated somebody for POTY earlier but I'd like to add to the list. BelgradeBobcat comparing Chirrick to Dennis Rodman, a HOF'er without a jump shot, was a brilliant observation. (but with better fashion sense ) Maybe she learns a jump shot or maybe not, but I'm positive she will be lethal finishing at the rim, a great rebounder, and even better on defense. That's plenty of HOF potential right there.

Ha Ha. Thanks!
Chirrick scored 19 points in the whole tournament and only 4 in the championship game yet she's on the all-tournament team. That really is amazing and a credit to the committee-whoever they were-who picked the team to recognize the impact that she had.

I'll point out i can see growth in her in that I've seen her drive to the basket alot of the season and if she was heavily guarded she would still go up for the shot and it gets blocked. In the tournament she was kicking it back out and realizing the shot wasn't there.
