Iowa St

Post by ABQCat » Fri Nov 26, 2010 8:38 am

We are on the road to a Big 12 school that is currenlty 5-0. This is a huge test for our young team. Two more road games after that (Seattle, Illinois St). I say taking 2 of 3 would be a fantasic result on this road trip. What say you?

Looks like Iowa State is currently 5-0, but has not gone on the road yet. They beat NAU 78-64 in their season opener.

2 out of 3 wins on this trip would be an incredible result, 1 out of 3 would even be pretty good...Iowa to Seattle to Illinois, yikes! Hope the players & staff all have their frequent flyer accounts active.

Live Blog on the Iowa state site if you want to follow along. http://www.cyclones.com/ViewArticle.dbm ... M_ID=10700" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Now following this game live blog, have UNI/Lehigh playoff game streaming in another tab, Coastal Carolina/Western Illinois in a third tab and the Carrol game going on tv. :lol:

I am watching and Anderson has been great so far. A few offensive boards to keep possessions alive and hitting a huge 3. Just need to start shooting the ball better as a team.

2 steals in a row by Iowa State and Huse calls a timeout.

Starting to hit shots now. Rush and Howard each hit a 3, Allou hits both FT's, and Howard hits 2 FT's. Cats up 15-14.

Up 15-14. Need to cut down on the turnovers.

Tor Anderson with a steal and a 3-pointer. Looks good so far.

Hanging tough up 25-23. Piepoli hits a three-pointer from the corner then picks up a foul. Iowa State plays a very active defense working to get a lot of steals to get out in transition. Cats are trying to keep it a half-court game rather than up and down the court like ISU wants.

Turnovers are killing this team right now. Need to be more sure of their passes.

12 turnovers in the first half. Lucky to be only down by 4 right now. 33-29 at the half. Singleton isn't having a very good game so far. Trujeque has looked better today.

God the turnovers are frustrating. Only down 4 at the half thank God.

Came out flat in the 2nd half and are down by 12 now. Singleton is just wayyyy too small to guard the ISU point guard. He is just backing him down in the paint and making easy 8 footers right over Singleton. He did pick up a bogus foul though on that alley-oop to Ejim.

Down by 20 now. Even Piepoli can't buy a bucket. ISU is heating up.

6 points in the first 12 plus minutes in the 2nd half isn't going to cut it against anyone. ISU looks pretty decent.

Right now the youth on this team is definitely showing. Hopefully this will be a good learning experience for them.
