Yeah I think Lasky's PBP for football is aweful! I have been trying to give him a chance. But, its like listening to my old geography professor. MONOTONE! I would rather tape the game if i cant be around a tv. I hate ripping anybody associated with Bobcat Athletics, so Im going to stop.
Hating the griz since 02.

Let's cut the guy some slack. He's still pretty new to this, and with what MSU/Learfield have to offer we're going to get "beginner" announcers. Personally, I prefer listening to Mark Martello but don't know if he would consider the job if and when it opens up. Mark's a little more experienced AND expresses a lot more enthusiasm in his broadcasts.

You'd be surprised at how many out of towners are doing the exact same thing you are. As an out-of-towner, you may go to more games than most people (even some of those living in Bozeman), but you lets not toot your horn too loud thereHelcat72 wrote:I probably go to more games than anyone out of town. Going to East Lansing eh? I missed going to the game tonight because I turned around at Four Corners & headed back home in the blizzard. I paid more attention to Lasky and thought he did a fine job.

In the likely event that Lasky is reading this thread, I'm going to chime in as well and say that I think he's doing a good job. He definitely has a different style than Alexander & Atterbury, but I think it works pretty well and he will only improve as he gets more experience.

Moderators.........can we please have this topic moved to SMACK. Kind of pathetic when we start bashing our own.

Seriously? Why can we not speak our opinion of Lasky and it has to be considered SMACK, but we can rip Fields, Wanago and Lamberty all day long and that is not considered SMACK?MinusTheBear wrote:Moderators.........can we please have this topic moved to SMACK. Re: I'm sick of listening to Lasky
My boss and I were talking about East Lansing this morning ... he's a Sconnie, but he hasn't been to that part of Michigan since he was a kid. I was wondering if it was a destination worth making the trip for, but he didn't think it probably was.Cat Pride wrote:Going to East Lansing eh? Do you know a bit more about that area? Would it be a less-than-exciting place to visit, outside of the game?

I have the same mindset as Cat Pride ... I personally find most griping about MSU people annoying (except when I'm the one doing the gripingCat Pride wrote:Seriously? That said, I fully encourage people who like his calls to express themselves as assertively as they see fit on this thread.

Re: I'm sick of listening to Lasky
If I remember right they had a tough time finding a new Voice of the Cats. I guess I am glad they found someone with Bobcat roots rather than someone who was maybe a bit better and know nothing of the Bobcats. I am going to cut Lasky some slack and say he is doing a pretty decent job all in all.

Nothing against Lasky, but I must've missed something- what exactly are his Montana roots? I did post earlier that all Learfield announcers appear to be clones, but I also posted recently that he's doing ok. What is the Montana connection? Just curious.MSUcantouchus wrote:If I remember right they had a tough time finding a new Voice of the Cats. Laskey was a local sportscaster for NBC I think, for several years. Did alot of Bobcat reporting.

I have nothing personal against him...He just doesn't have IT...whatever IT is! Alexander had IT...and Atterbury had IT...but Lasky doesn't!

Re: I'm sick of listening to Lasky
As one that has been very critical of Lasky and his getting excited about the opposing team I thought last night I would listen to Cat chat and see what he was like as a reporter. I was pleasantly suprised as he interviewed Coach Huse, Bobby, Danny, and Erik. As an interviewer he asked great questions and really showed some great skills, he engaged all the players and took a friendly jab at coach Huse a time or two and it was a nice show to listen to. It is on the internet yahoo sports at 6 pacific but 7 mountain time on Tuesday nights.
I also listened to him on Monday as well (during the UV game) and being one who has ripped him in the not so distant past I took my better half's advice and tried not to compare him to Dean Alexander who was everything Bobcat and not try to compare him to Chris Atteberry (SP) who I beleive we will see one day working for ESPN. I have to admit it is hard he is not what Bobcat fans are accostumed to in our announcers. I did see somewhere that Lamberty will be working with him on the Cat/Griz game maybe that will help is there a reason that he does not have a sidekick with him for all the games? I know Davies is the second announcer for football. Maybe having someone for him to converse with would make it better.
As a interviewer I thought he did a nice job as a play by play guy I still think he has a long way to go. But I am willing to keep listening and hope with time he gets a little better since this is the way I see or listen to most of the bobcat football and basketball games.

Re: I'm sick of listening to Lasky
Left last nights game a little early and tuned in radio broadcast of final few minutes. Since I attend most FB and BB games don't get the chance to listen to Lasky. Must say I'm glad I don't, he is terrible. I didn't even listen to the end of the game. Doesn't MSU Athletics have to approve who announces games?
He needs to go. Need someone along lines of Dean and Kris to handle play by play.
