Dougherty: Jefferson Best I-A Transfer

Post by longhorn_22 » Fri Dec 22, 2006 3:27 pm

BEST I-A TRANSFER: Michael Jefferson, Montana State

The transfer quarterbacks received all of the preseason attention in the Big Sky, but no player ended up making a bigger impact on his team’s success than Jefferson. A senior transfer from Arizona, Jefferson helped ignite the Bobcat passing game with a pair of huge performances and solid play throughout the season. Jefferson notched 12 receptions for 239 yards and a touchdown in a 39-32 win over Northern Arizona, and recorded 274 yards of total offense and five touchdowns in a 42-35 victory over Idaho State. Jefferson finished his lone season in Bozeman with 66 receptions for 1,023 yards and nine touchdowns, and played a major role for the last team to earn to an at-large playoff berth.

Minor edit... I think he actually cracked 300 during that Idaho State Game. Could be wrong though...

Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Total yards I think he did. He had a couple huge runs.

I notice they don't have Montana State in the pre-season top 10. Isn't it a little early for that anyways?

It's way too early, but other than Wofford he's probably not too far off for this point in time. JMHO

BEST ATMOSPHERE: Appalachian State

I was able to make it to some of the best venues in the Football Championship Subdivision this season, with trips to Montana, Georgia Southern, McNeese State and Northern Iowa. At least for this season, the atmosphere in Boone was unmatched. The Mountaineer faithful come in droves to sell out the stadium, and last year’s title along with this year’s dominant team made the trip a great experience with a rowdy crowd. The huge amount of fans that sit on the grass adds charm to a stadium that has all of the major amenities.

I read that too and laughed because I know that will upset the griz fans

Yes, but you know they'll spin it. "Oh, Daugherty can't give it to us every year." Or something like that.

I would have to agree. Their students/fans were ROWDY and very creative. It was more of a student type atmosphere than the Griz have by far. I was very impressed with App. State's cheering section/creativity/fire in the stands. Griz still have them as far as loudness/stadium though.
