2007 Predictions
@ Texas A&M
- We start season at No. 9 in the polls, but take a serious beating. A&M is loaded. Hopefully they call off the dogs and we come home without a serious limp. (0-0, 0-1) Drop to No. 15.
Vs. ADAMS ST. - With all eyes watching to see if we blow it against a DII team, we roll to a big win. (0-0, 1-1) Jump to No. 12.
Vs. SO. UTAH
- We roll again. (0-0, 2-1) Up to No. 10
@ EWU
- Huge game early. EW is better and we haven’t beat them since 1492. We get beat. (0-1, 2-2) Down to No. 15
Vs. NAU
- Must win, so we win. (1-1, 3-2) Up to No. 14
@ PSU
- They think they’re pissed at us, but find out differently. (2-1, 4-2) Up to No. 11.
Vs. SSU
- Win (3-1, 5-2) Up to No. 10
Vs. ISU
Break the No. 10 loss jinx. Win big. (4-1, 6-2) Up to No. 8
@WSU
- Like losing to EW is a given, nipping WSU is, too. (5-1, 7-2) Up to No. 7
@ UNC
- No time to lose now. Clinch a playoff home game with this one (6-1, 8-2) Up to No. 6
Vs. UM
- We get ‘em at home. (7-1, 9-2) Is a BSC title and 7-game win streak enough to get a top four seed? Should be. Two home games.
PLAYOFFS
Vs. Southland champs
- Win (10-2)
Vs. a Top 10 team from A-10 or SoCon
- Win (11-2)
@ A-10 or SoCon champion (App. State?)
- Lose a nail-biter, but for the first time since 1984 we go further than UM.

I THINK WE WILL BE RANKED IN THE TOP 10 IN THE PRESEASON. IT SEEMS IF YOU HAVE YOUR COACH BACK AND A GOOD QB AND A GREAT DEFENSE, USUALLY YOUR RANKED PRETTY HIGH!

Ever heard the term "shooting the breeze?"kstack wrote:Has anybody heard the term, "jumping the gun?" I hate to be so cynical on these boards but it is mid-December and people are making predictions for the 2007 season? Wow.
Lighten up Francis. It's something to talk about that that doesn't involve rehashing the same things that have been said 100 times about Kramer/Bailey/recruits.

Pre-Spring keys:
O-Line-Find a couple of tough guys to transfer in and provide leadership. Think Figueroa only bigger. Person and DeCock will fill out 2 spots as of now, with Sonsini competing.
Backs-Rolovich maintains his spot and grows with experience. Groves and Mason must get healthy. Mason needs to be mentally tougher.
Tight ends- Pretty well set. Barnhardt and Bostick are pretty good. Schreibeis and Begger will provide excellent depth.
Receivers-Lewis will return and everyone knows he is fast. Would like to root for Lulay, Green, Desin & Co., but there will be at least 2 new faces brought in to compete. That's right 2 transfer wr's.
D-Line-Pretty well established. Norris will step in as will Bobo. Papich will have a good year and Kinkelaar and the boys will provide depth. Expect 2-3 HS signees and 1 transfer.
Linebacker-This has been the key to the defense for the last 3 years. King may be a question (health). Claggett will return as will Matthews. As for Daly, well..he's Daly. Probably another honorable mention or somethin'..cause he ain't any good?! Fletcher will see the field as well. O'Connell and McCracken are unknown right now. Probably sign 2 to 3. One from Montana.
Secondary-Now it gets interesting. Austin returns and will lead the league in passes defended again. Will probably make the Eastern AA All Conference 2nd Team. Retoriano is undersized, but has heart. Gazzero could find himself in the secondary, but needs to be on the field. Will Beach be able to handle the other corner? Who will emerge as the safeties-Gazzero, Retoriano, Brown, Rider, Retoriano or Williams? Corners- Austin and ? Beach, Black, Briggs, Palmer or Steffen. Is there a chance that Fuller is acquitted and rejoins the team?(doubtful) Up to 5 signees. 2 transfers, 3 prep kids.
It's a mixed bag. Solid in a number of spots, but holes to fill. That's what Spring ball is all about. The coaches will identify the needs and recruit accordingly. 2007 has the possibilty of being a year of tremendous growth in the program. On and off the field. I trust that those in charge will be just that. In charge!
Prediction: Top 2 in the conference, win season ender at home, host at least the 1st round of the playoffs and play in the 3rd round.

I just like egging on you football fanatics. It seems like it would be hard to predict though considering the uncertainty at the PB, RB and WR positions. Even at OL, Jensen, Birkeland, and Hirst are gone. Nobody knows starters next year, maybe Mason is a certainty. But now with Force, Fuller, Papich and Lowe, and Siataga off the D, it's kinda hard to tell what this team will even look like. Just throwing that out there. Who are the probables to replace those guys?
