A confirmed source has said that Idaho did conduct other interviews today and plans on bringing those candidates to campus. Kramer deal far from done. Certainly no indication that they are set on Kramer.

A confirmed source has told me Kramer has the Job....blah blah blah let's just wait until UI or MSU say something on the record.

A confirmed source told me that Ryan Leaf is interviewing for the job at Montana should one arise.

Idaho sure likes to drag their feet. I hope our coaching decision doesn't draw out this long. If Kramer does get this thing then what took them so long to announce it. I would guess that every Idaho supporter is ready for an answer. You should have our coach practiclly hired by the time they make their decision.

Our coaching decision will take even longer than Idaho's has. We aren't allowed to just pick a guy and hire him; there has to be a formal application/interview process.

A confirmed source tells me that "Radio" will be the new dUMb coach if Hack leaves.

My bad, but this is heading for the smack board anyway.

I heard from a source within the IU Athletic Department that Geraldo is on the list of finalists for the job at Idaho also.

Our process should have already started to some degree. We should have our canidates figured out and notified of the current situation. I am sure that they are aware of what is going on so it shouldn't take more than a couple of phone calls when this thing does break open. Interview and then decide. I think it is important that we get a good coach with certain values who can get in here and help with the current situation.

I did, and you're right. Damn, we need a decision.

I was just watching the Spokane news and they lead of the sports by saying Kramer will be on campus tomorrow and no one else has yet been asked to come to campus. bummer! I do hope that our AD is brewing up some sort of list, we need this settled as quickly as possible.

Montana State football coach Mike Kramer is leaving tonight to interview Thursday morning in Moscow, Idaho, for the vacant head coaching position at the University of Idaho.

The meeting represents the second time in 10 months Kramer will have a face-to-face interview with Idaho athletic director Rob Spear. (The two also spoke via phone Tuesday).

Kramer said Wednesday afternoon nothing has been finalized.

"I have not been offered a contract," he said. "I have not been given any parameters. I'm just being open and honest. This is not national security."

An official within Idaho's athletic department said Wednesday afternoon that an announcement on a coaching decision will not be made until next week.

Kramer, an Idaho alum who grew up in nearby Colton, Wash., is the leading candidate for the job, which is open after former MSU quarterback and coach Dennis Erickson left Saturday for Arizona State.

Washington State defensive coordinator Robb Akey has also been interviewed. Former Michigan State and Idaho head coach John L. Smith was also a candidate, but withdrew from consideration Monday night.

When asked if he felt the Idaho job was his, Kramer said, "I have no idea. I'm trying to keep my emotions to myself."

Kramer was expected to travel with his wife, Sandi, who is from the Moscow area. The couple's daughters - Courtney and Gretchen - may go as well, though the youngest, Gretchen, a sophomore at Bozeman High, recently suffered a concussion playing basketball.

Speculation that Mike Kramer may leave for Idaho began almost immediately after it was announced that Erickson was heading to ASU.

Because Montana State is in the middle of exam week, Kramer hasn't been able to talk to his players about the possibility of his departure. But junior linebacker Will Claggett, who is expected to be a team captain next season, says such a scenario comes with the territory.

"You understand that it's a business," Claggett said from California Wednesday. "I respect whatever decision he makes. He has to look out for what's best for him and his family.

"But also, being a greedy player, I'd love for him to stay."

If Kramer does leave, will that change his commitment to the MSU program?

"No way. I'm a Bobcat, through and through," Claggett added. "If he takes off, best of luck to him. The thing that worries me most is our defensive (coaching) staff. If the head stone gets taken out and the rest of the pieces fall, that would be the biggest thing we'd have to overcome."

Until a decision is made by UI, coaches and players from both schools - and in other programs - remain in limbo.

"You can't imagine the stress this is having on the staff and their families," Kramer said. "This is the sullied side of college football. There are very few (Penn State's head coach for 40 years) Joe Paternos out there. You find there's a lot of heartache in this business, which we all love and volunteer to be a part of."

I heard he was actually a quarterback coach at a DII school in Texas. Yes that's right....he's grooming future athletes.

It sounds like Kramer is on his way. This is what we have all thought since Erickson left. The process of hiring another coach should have already started. I am hoping for Mike Van Diest but there are other coaches out there that should be considered. I just hope we can get this done before the Griz start looking for a new head coach as well. I still think that a week is plenty of time for Idaho to make a decision so why must they drag this out another week. Hopefully we can make our decision, hopefully the right decision, much quicker.

I agree that a contigent search should already be taking place in an informal manner ... and I expect that it is.

Idaho to interview some of John L.'s assistants. Not Kramer's job for sure.

You heard right. I actually saw a piece about him on TV not that long ago (Real Sports?) and his new coaching "job". I actually think he's a volunteer coach. If I remember correctly, he's coaching QBs at West Texas A&M. Scary...
