A plea to the Cat Fans of BobcatNation

I am going to preface this by saying this is coming from me personally, not specifically from the mod team. If rtb and BAC want to chime in on this with their thoughts, that is great, but I felt I needed to get this off my chest. I will also say that this is not being directed at particular individuals as if you asked me I honestly wouldn't be able to tell you who has done this without reading through the threads again, so don't take personal offense.
In at least two threads here and at least one over on eGriz I have seen Cat fans flaming back at the Griz and UM for past indiscretions in their program. I know that recent happenings within MSU Athletics have left many very upset and angry and people tend to lash out at those times, but I have got to say that now is not the time or place to be casting stones back at ANY other program. By and large, the overwhelming majority of Griz fans both here and even on eGriz have been very cool about not slamming the program or talking too much trash (of which I would like to say thank you). I know it is even harder to hear someone outside the program (especially a rival) give honest opinions of situations like this, but for the most part what I have read is just that, honest opinions that could have just as easily come from another Cat fan. So all I am asking is take a minute, cool off and think about whether we are really in a position to be talking smack about other schools' indiscretions at this point. Sometimes you just have to sit back and take your lumps--no matter how much it hurts--and try to make things better on your end rather than retaliating like a six year old claiming "he hit me first." We all know that all institutions have off-field problems in athletics, but right now it is MSU so we need to deal with that and get through it, much like I know our Athletic Department is right now.
More specifically to some of the posts that have referred to specific "incidents" in the Flathead last summer of which no one was ever charged or even publicly (besides on internet message boards) linked to certain crimes. I am going to ask that these posts STOP on this board. I don't care that it is a rival player or school or how much you hate them, you are laying very serious and unfounded allegations against a young man and it is time to stop. For those that claim they have "information" saying there was some kind of grand coverup, take it to the police or you local state congressman or someone that could actually do something about it. Spouting off about it on an anonymous internet message board just makes you look like an ass with an ax to grind.

First, thank you for bring this up and any true Griz fan should realize that tomarrow could bring headlines in the Missoulian with an incident just as bad or worse then this one. The Griz are not immune to this and while we hope the current group of kids is not involved in such activity, we need to tread lightly.
I took no joy in reading about the arrests, in fact my first thought went to all of the good kids on the Cat teams that have to feel the pain of having this occur while they are student/athletes.

KMAX:
Let that program that has not sinned cast the first stone. Any program can be the victim of a player gone awry. Therefore, I will not bash the Cats or talk smack because it could happen unexpectdly in our own back yard. I do feel sorry for Kramer and staff as this could affect Mike's ability to advance his professional goals. I really hope it does not.

Nice job kmax. That was an excellent post. This issue is not the place or time to downgrade the Grizzlies. It really isn't even a Grizzly-related issue. I'd also like to say thanks to Griz fans for leaving the smack alone.

Ok Tampa, will disconnect HBO, anyway I wasn't finished with my thoughts.
This is about the best thread I have seen on this site. Kudos not just to our administrators but the Cat AND Griz fans who have responded in a mature manner, the first part of my post excluded.
It is naive to think that drugs are exclusive to either Bozeman or Missoula but that thought is actually why I went to MSU. I had a close relative who went to the U who was VERY involved in the drug scene and that was my only view of life in Missoula and I didn't like it so I went to Bozeman. Absolutely no regrets but later in life circumstances saw me attend school in Missoula and I found out that life there was VERY similar to Bozeman and most people are great in both places, they just have very dis-similar colored wardrobes.
So, we will see how this plays out and hopefully no athelete in the state of Montana feels the need to break the law and bring shame to our state and respecived institutions.
Ramble complete!

Bravo to kmax for the best post since I have been reading this board.
Also, bravo to the griz fans who post here and have not taken this occasion to revel in our misery. I have been reading egriz alot this week with all of the rumors surrounding bh and their posts regarding their programs and ours have been nothing short of first rate. The griz fans who post here are starting to wear me down. You grizzers are making it hard for me to hate the fan base I have known for the past 18 years.
Lets not forget that one bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch. The Fuller situation will make it tough for MSU if Kramer stays with this program. Also, I shouldn't let a few bad apples from west of the divide totally bias my opinion of the griz fan base as a whole. I am not changing my signature yet, but tampa, htown, etc (not you swilly) are making me respect the fan base more than I did before I started reading BN.
