For all of you familiar with Bozeman (fans, students, alums, etc.), where are some places to get some grub? What would you recommend for dinner on Friday night (assuming we'll get there in time for dinner!) and breakfast Saturday morning? I really enjoy trying local places, and would prefer to avoid the chains. Thanks!

You'd be remissed if you didn't get a Pickle Barrel sandwhich while you were in town. For dinner I would recommend Bob's Burgers or Montana Ale Works...they are both downtown on Main St.

Here's a quick list that looked pretty solid. Some of them would require slight travel (such as Sir Scott's Oasis in Manhattan ((sixteen miles to the west of Bozeman via the interstate. But, it's the best prime rib you'll ever have))).

I didn't look to see if it was there, but Fiesta Mexicana is a great place for some real authentic food.

Make sure and stop by my tailgate. I need to talk some BBQ tips with someone from the South

The Stockyards for Breakfast. Best in town.

Montana Ale Works for dinner.

Main Street Over Easy for Breakfast.

Get to Main St. early...their is usually a line.

You must have a Pickle Barrel! Their cheesesteaks are like nothing else.

We always love Santa Fe Reds, not real authentic Mexican, but it's a fun atmosphere. It's a small resteraunt attached to the Bozeman Inn.

Also, Mackinzie River Pizza is Montana chain that started in Bozeman, excellent pizza.

The Oasis and Land of Magic are fabulous is you don't mind the drive. They are good ol' Montana steak houses.

Personally, I never miss Ferraro's or Boodles when I'm in town.

Ditto what everyone else said about the Pickle Barrel. Personally, I think their hot sandwiches are better than the cold ones, but that's more of a personal preference.

With a name like Cledus you don't seem like a Ferraro's or a Boodles type of guy...all in good fun buddy...GO CATS!!!

More love on the Pickle Barrel and Montana Ale Works. The trick with the Pickle Barrel is to go to the one on College St., which is right next to campus.

You have to stop at Spectators for a Bloody Mary before the game. It is an easy walk to the game (mabey 400-500 yards.)

I know I am A Spectators groopie but the owner is a great guy and does alot for the Cats.

Agee with the Spec's assessment, plus the scenery isn't too bad either.

I just got back from Santa Fe Red's and as per usual it was delicious!

Coming from the east on Friday night STOP in Livingston and eat a steak at the Livingston Rib and Chop House. You drove all the way to Montana you might as well have the best steak in the state!!

Once again, nothing beats the Pickle Barrell! Also, it's been awhile, but just down the street to the west from the Pickel Barrell is a pizza shop called Columbo's. I haven't been there in awhile, but it used to pretty darn good.

Agree with both rtb and 1badbobcat. Gotta have a steak at the rib and chop house and columbo's is still excellent. All of the other places noted here are great as well.

As a Belgrade (8 miles west of Bozeman) guy, I will also throw out The Mint and Bar 3 BBQ, though I somewhat hesitate to recommend a BBQ place to people from down south it is pretty good Texas style BBQ.

Don't forget the free dinners at the Scoop on Fridays with the stale beer!

Well, if I only had "one last meal" in the Bozeman area, I'd head for Manhattan and Sir Scott's Oasis for a prime rib.

But in Bozeman, I, too, will put a plug in for the Pickle Barrel. I love their cheese steaks. Plus, if you go downtown, you can grab a beer at the Rocking R Bar.

Near campus, check out Spectators, great burgers, but likely to be SWAMPED on Saturday.

Years ago I would have said Spanish Peaks Brewery, but sadly, it left us.

Montana Ale Works is good. If you want to go fancier, try Boodles.

Anyone know where Monte is working nowadays? Seriously the best waiter/wine expert ever.

Panama Red's for mexican if that is your taste.
