The new, improved Mike Kramer
I have noticed and appreciated classy comments coming from Mike Kramer this season, and wanted to come on this board to compliment him to his fan base. It seemed to me that in years past, he was quick to blame players for losses, naming them in post-game interviews and detailing how they had let the team down. That seemed to be absent this year, and his comments on the Griz and Bobby Hauck this year have been gracious. Is it just me, or do others note as well an elevated level of commentary from your coach?

You haven't listened much to Coach Kramer, at least in regard to the Griz.
Mike has ALWAYS been very complimentary of the Griz football program, often stating how he'd like to emulate their success and make our 2 schools the premier football programs in IAA.
As to his "calling out" his players in the past, I guess that's a personal preference thing because a lot of us have no problem with it while others have voiced their displeasure with it in the past. I guess I hadn't noticed a change in his doing so this season; if he did, I'm sure many Cat fans approve.
Anyway, thanks for the props; glad you approve of our coach.

Re: The new, improved Mike Kramer
I have been in multiple get together with Kramer in a all Bobcat booster only settings, some wich involved liquid refreshments, and people telling off color stories of them and Kramer in their younger years and I have NEVER heard him say a bad thing about Hauck or Glenn. I have heard him say things like "they built their program the right way" or why can't we have two top 5 teams in Montana. I was at one get together a few years back, right after Hauck went on his "the other team" rant and refused to say "Montana State" for a half a season. I think Kramer responce was some to the effect of I do not know why Hauck had to go their but I guess we should start calling our selves "The" Montana State. Closest I ever heard Kramer come to slamming the Griz.GrizRick wrote:I have noticed and appreciated classy comments coming from Mike Kramer this season, and wanted to come on this board to compliment him to his fan base. I don't recall him slamming the Griz or Bobby, either, but this season I have noticed he has been particularly complimentary. In seasons past, I have read quotes of his criticizing particular players, and that seems to be absent this year. In any event, kudos to the man.mslacat wrote:I have been in multiple get together with Kramer in a all Bobcat booster only settings, some wich involved liquid refreshments, and people telling off color stories of them and Kramer in their younger years and I have NEVER heard him say a bad thing about Hauck or Glenn. I still haven't heard Hauck call MSU anything other than 'State' or them. Never heard him say Bobcats, MSU, Montana State.mslacat wrote:I have been in multiple get together with Kramer in a all Bobcat booster only settings, some wich involved liquid refreshments, and people telling off color stories of them and Kramer in their younger years and I have NEVER heard him say a bad thing about Hauck or Glenn. Never the less Rick thanks for the compliment. It's good to see others are seeing the Kramer for who he is. I will admit I have noticed in the past how he would call players out now and then, but you are right on Rick in saying that hasn't been the case this year. I would say he has been taking some lessons in politicking which isn't a bad skill to have at the major college FB level.GrizRick wrote:I have noticed and appreciated classy comments coming from Mike Kramer this season, and wanted to come on this board to compliment him to his fan base. Bobby did actually say "Montana State" on his coaches show on Sunday night, and was actually quit complimentary. Actually called us a very good team. I almost fell out of my chair. Maby the Baby is growing up a little bit?crazycat wrote:I still haven't heard Hauck call MSU anything other than 'State' or them. Hopefully we won't have to wait until next year to find out how Baby will react after losing to the Cats . . . I'm hoping we get to find out in a few weeks after the NC game in Tenn.HelenaCat wrote:I also saw the Hauck Coaches Show and thought the same thing. But I reserve any judgement until I see Baby react after a loss to the Cats (next year). If he is gracious then, then I will say he has finally grown up. It is easy to be gracious after a win.

I've never been a Bobby fan, but I gotta defend him here... he reacted very well after we thumped them last year, from what I remember in the papers anyway... much better than what he was like in 03.HelenaCat wrote:I also saw the Hauck Coaches Show and thought the same thing. I for one am glad the calling out is over. Get your arse chewed in meetings in front of the team and during the game is enough, no need to go public. Keep it within the team! I know several players of years gone by that said the public calling out was devasting. I equate it to work, how many of you would like your boss to chew you out in public newspapers and radio vs in an appropriate setting. I am a poster with military experience, and have chewed out my fair share. Some in appropriate settings, and some I had to learn the hard way of how not to do it. Bottom line is this year had better results, improved methods=an improved record.Helcat72 wrote:It's not like he doesn't know his players. He knows when he can call out a player in private or in public. I think he also knows who will be motivated by it and who will be devastated.
